Music icon Bob Dylan <\/a>has announced he will be coming to Glasgow’s Armadillo later this year in a 13-date tour of the UK and Ireland following a successful run of shows last year that included three nights at the Royal Albert Hall. The 84-year-old star is playing two nights in Scotland at the Armadillo <\/a>on Sunday November 16 and Monday November 17 as part of his Rough and Rowdy Ways world tour, which has been running since November 2021.<\/p>\n

The Blowin In the Wind hitmaker will also perform in Dublin, Swansea, Brighton, Leeds, Coventry, Belfast and Killarney while he is on the road. The show will be phone-free and concert goers will be asked to put their phones into a Yondr pouch, which closes automatically when in the venue and unlocks in the venue\u2019s concourse.<\/p>\n

His tour dates come amid a fresh surge in interest in the singer’s career, following the release of his biopic A Complete Unknown last year. Timothee Chalamet<\/a> starred as Dylan in the film which followed the story of his career beginnings and infamous decision to go electric in the mid-1960s.<\/p>\n

Dylan is one of the most acclaimed songwriters of all time, winning 10 Grammys and being nominated on 38 further occasions. He has also achieved six UK top 10 singles and nine UK number one albums.<\/p>\n

The 84-year-old’s career began in 1962 with the single Mixed-Up Confusion, which failed to chart in the UK and US.<\/p>\n

However, it was a string of later singles in 1965 that shot him to fame, including The Times They Are A-Changin\u2019, Subterranean Homesick Blues and Like A Rolling Stone.<\/p>\n

He was the first songwriter to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016, with the Swedish academy crediting him with \u201chaving created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dylan’s legendary songs have been covered by the likes of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Rolling Stones and Adele.<\/p>\n

Those who are keen to see Dylan perform live will need to act fast as tickets for his tour go on sale this Friday on July 18 at 10am.<\/p>\n
