Caroline Wozniacki appeared to take a dig at her ex-fianc\u00e9 Rory McIlroy as she watched him win the Masters at Augusta.<\/p>\n

The former world No 1 tennis star pointedly threw her support behind another player prior to the tournament.<\/p>\n

In an interview with ESPN, Wozniacki said: “We pick one that we think has a big chance of winning, and that was Ludvig Aberg.”<\/p>\n

Despite her prediction, McIlroy held his nerve on a tense final round to defeat Justin Rose in a sudden death playoff.<\/p>\n

Aberg, Wozniacki’s pick, finished seventh in the prestigious tournament.<\/p>\n

Wozniacki and McIlroy were once considered a sporting super-couple, dating between 2011 and 2013.<\/p>\n

Their relationship ended abruptly when McIlroy called off their engagement in a three-minute phone call.<\/p>\n

The shock breakup came just days after they had sent out wedding invitations following his New Year’s Eve proposal in Sydney.<\/p>\n

Wozniacki later revealed her devastation at the manner of their split.<\/p>\n

“I was shocked. I thought at least I would get a face-to-face or something, but there was nothing,” she told Graham Bensinger.<\/p>\n

“It was a phone call, and I did not hear from him again. It kind of just ended.”<\/p>\n

McIlroy began dating his now-wife Erica Stoll just months after ending things with Wozniacki.<\/p>\n

The couple married in 2017 and have a four-year-old daughter, Poppy.<\/p>\n

Their relationship hit the headlines last year when McIlroy filed for divorce in a move that appeared to come out of the blue.<\/p>\n

There were rumours of a potential romance with CBS sports journalist Amanda Balionis after they appeared to enjoy a strong rapport during an interview.<\/p>\n

However, the divorce petition was voluntarily dismissed weeks later.<\/p>\n

McIlroy said last summer: “Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together.”<\/p>\n

Stoll was a loyal supporter at Augusta, positioned by the 18th hole as McIlroy secured his victory.<\/p>\n

The golfer went straight to his wife and daughter after winning, pulling Stoll into an embrace.<\/p>\n

In a tearful address, McIlroy thanked his family, saying: “They’ve been on this journey with me the whole way through.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Wozniacki has moved on with her life, married to former NBA player David Lee.<\/p>\n
