Volotea<\/a> (V7, Barcelona El Prat<\/a>) is considering the Embraer<\/a> E2 or Airbus<\/a> A220 as a replacement type for its A319-100<\/a>s, founder and chief executive Carlos Mu\u00f1oz said during the Routes Europe 2025 event in Seville last week.<\/p>\n

The Spanish LCC operates seventeen A319s with an average age of 20.4 years, according to the ch-aviation fleets<\/a> module. <\/p>\n

While the airline weighs up its fleet replacement options, it has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for two to six additional A320-200<\/a>s powered by CFM International<\/a> engines. It aims to dry-lease these aircraft starting in the first quarter of 2026 but will also consider bids with delivery dates in the fourth quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n

Mu\u00f1oz previously told ch-aviation<\/a> that Volotea was seeking additional jets to support its plan for opening an additional 10 to 12 bases in the coming years.<\/p>\n

“We keep looking for more midlife aircraft because we see lots of opportunities. We shared [with lessors] an idea of our fleet for the next couple of years, which includes two to three [new additions] on the low end and 10 at the upper range,” the CEO said.<\/p>\n
