Newcastle United<\/a> have cranked up talks in the last 24 hours to land Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.<\/p>\n

Chronicle Live understands that the two clubs are edging “closer” to an agreement but the deal is not yet finalised. The hope at Benton is that Trafford will follow Anthony Elanga after his \u00a355m arrival from Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n

Talks with Burnley remain ongoing for Trafford with the Clarets attempting to hold out for \u00a340m – something that could be made up be incentives after an initial \u00a327m bid from Newcastle.<\/p>\n

Burnley see Trafford as the next England No 1 for years to come and feel that they are justified with such a big demand and 20% is owed to Manchester City after his move two years ago.<\/p>\n

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports<\/a> bundle ahead of the 2025\/26 season, saving members \u00a3192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.<\/p>\n

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 more.<\/p>\n

Trafford recorded an impressive 27 clean sheets in 38 games and conceded just 11 goals.<\/p>\n

After that I expect Newcastle to bring in a centre-back and look at a new younger forward to challenge Alexander Isak.<\/p>\n

Personal terms for Trafford are not understood to be an issue and the keeper has already verbally agreed to join Newcastle if Burnley can strike a deal. The Cockermouth-born goalie is still in Lancashire and has been training with Burnley.<\/p>\n
