Arsenal held positive transfer talks with Sporting CP over Viktor Gyokeres<\/a> last weekend, but the two clubs still haven\u2019t reached an agreement for the striker\u2019s transfer.<\/p>\n

John Cross reports for the Mirror<\/a> that Sporting imposed a \u201ccooling off\u201d period earlier this week, as they stick to their demands for a \u00a360m guaranteed fee with around \u00a310m in add-ons.<\/p>\n

But Cross adds that Arsenal made huge progress over the weekend, there\u2019s big optimism that a deal will be done, and talks are seen as being \u201cdrawn out\u201d rather than \u201cstalled\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sporting probably hoped for a bidding war for Gyokeres this summer, with Manchester United also among the striker\u2019s suitors. But Portuguese outlet Record<\/a> report that Gyokeres and his camp have rejected three separate enquiries from Ruben Amorim\u2019s<\/a> side in favour of Arsenal.<\/p>\n

The longer the saga goes on, the more complicated it might become for the player, who was expected back in training with Sporting today.<\/p>\n

As predicted<\/a>, Record report that Gyokeres is expected to stay at home in Sweden, risking disciplinary proceedings from his club. His refusal to attend training is due to his belief that Sporting broke a verbal agreement to sell him for \u20ac60m (\u00a351.8m) plus \u20ac10m (\u00a38.6m) this summer.<\/p>\n

Mais Futebol<\/a> confirm that Gyokeres has failed to turn up to the club\u2019s training ground on time.<\/p>\n

Gyokeres has agreed to give up \u20ac2m<\/a> from his potential Arsenal salary in order to help the move over the line, so he\u2019s likely frustrated that Sporting still haven\u2019t accepted Arsenal\u2019s latest offer.<\/p>\n

Ideally, the two clubs will restart talks and reach an agreement sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n
