Sky Sports pundit and EFL expert Don Goodman has warned Josh Windass that he might not be guaranteed regular game time with a switch from Sheffield Wednesday to Coventry City this summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to The Star<\/a>, the Sky Blues are among the clubs eyeing a potential move for the forward amid uncertainty over his future at Hillsborough.<\/p>\n

However, they face competition from rivals such as Norwich City, Derby County and Wrexham, alongside Windass’ former club Rangers.<\/p>\n

Windass\u2019 future is the subject of speculation amid financial issues with the Yorkshire outfit, who could be looking to raise funds through sales in order to maintain some stability behind the scenes with players having been repeatedly paid late.<\/p>\n\n\n

Don Goodman issues Coventry warning to Windass<\/p>\n

According to Goodman, Windass would be a guaranteed starter at a side such as Wrexham, meaning they\u2019d make more sense over a move to the CBS Arena.<\/p>\n

He claimed the 35-year-old would be a good addition for Frank Lampard\u2019s side if he could be signed for nothing, which is a possibility given the current salary situation, but that the player may want to prioritise regular minutes instead.<\/p>\n

Windass enjoyed a strong season with the Owls last time out, meaning it’s little surprise that he’s the subject of interest throughout the second-tier. The versatile forward struck on 13 occasions while adding a further five assists, and has no shortage of suitors keeping close tabs on his current situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Josh Windass is at the end of his contract or is he able to get a move without a fee being involved, which would make him attractive to a whole host of clubs,\u201d Goodman exclusively<\/strong> told Football League World.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of Wrexham, I can see that, he would without doubt be starting week-in and week-out I would think.<\/p>\n

A long list of clubs are interested in Josh Windass, as an exit from Sheffield Wednesday appears likely.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of Coventry<\/a>, I\u2019m so sure, in terms of whether he would be a starter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of talented forwards at the club that play in a similar position to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I can see the Wrexham move a little bit more than the Coventry<\/a> move, but if they get him for free, Coventry<\/a>, then he would be a good addition to the squad, of course he would.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coventry will get their Championship season underway on 9 August with a home clash against Hull City.<\/p>\n

Windass showed last season that he is still more than capable of playing regularly at Championship level. He’s got bags of experience and goalscoring prowess, which are exactly what makes him such an attractive proposition at this moment in time.<\/p>\n

Wrexham would be an exciting opportunity given their rapid rise up the English football pyramid in the last few years. Phil Parkinson already has a host of attackers at his disposal, of course, although you’d expect Windass to instantly usurp many in the pecking order and establish himself as a real star in North Wales.<\/p>\n
