Organisers have updated fans about the status of Jeff Lynne<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0Electric Light Orchestra<\/a>\u2018s upcoming gig at BST Hyde Park<\/a> after they were forced to cancel a show last minute due to illness.<\/p>\n

On Thursday (July 10), their gig at Manchester\u2019s Co Op Live was axed just minutes before showtime, with the audience already seated in the venue. It was set to be the second-to-last show on the band\u2019s \u2018Over and Out\u2019 farewell tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The only show remaining on the band\u2019s itinerary is coming up this Sunday (July 13), where they will headline a massive show at London\u2019s Hyde Park<\/a>. However, the rocky start to the tour, coupled with the cancelled gig, sparked fears the sold-out show was in jeopardy.<\/p>\n

As previously reported by Ultimate Classic Rock<\/a>, the farewell tour got off to a rough start after Lynne was forced to perform with a broken hand earlier this month. Fans attending other gigs on the trek also took to social media to share concerns about his health.<\/p>\n

One fan\u00a0shared<\/a>\u00a0that the stage crew had to bring Lynne a chair as he appeared to be struggling, and that by the end of the concert, \u201cthe band had to sing Mr Blue Sky for him and his backing singers looked visibly shaken up\u201d.<\/p>\n

Taking to X\/Twitter, one fan asked Hyde Park organisers for an update, saying their \u201cmain concern is Jeff Lynne\u2019s health,\u201d but adding that if they were going to cancel, they should do so \u201csooner rather than later\u201d, unlike at the Manchester gig.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs reported,\u201d an official account replied, \u201cJeff Lynne was unwell and unable to perform on Thursday 10th July. We are advised that there are currently no concerns with regards to Sunday\u2019s performance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about the landmark gig in a previous statement, Lynne looked back to his 2014 return to touring, which began at Hyde Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems like the perfect place to do our final show,\u201d he said. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t be more excited to share this special night in London with our UK fans. As the song goes, \u2018We\u2019re gonna do it One More Time!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Support acts were later confirmed<\/a>\u00a0as\u00a0The Doobie Brothers<\/a>,\u00a0Steve Winwood<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Dhani Harrison<\/a>, with the\u00a0full host of artists set to join Lynne<\/a>\u00a0including W. H. Lung, Cats in Space, High Fade, Neckbreakers, Bobbie Dazzle and Bec O\u2019Malley added to the bill.<\/p>\n
