We expect Strava users working in sensitive professions to leverage the privacy settings available&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_2-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Bodyguards for the Swedish royal family and Sweden&#8217;s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson accidentally revealed top-secret location info via a fitness app.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/07\/11\/world\/europe\/strava-sweden-bodyguards-prime-minister.html\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a> shared the information published by the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter\u00a0this week. Using the Strava app, Dagens Nyheter was able to track over 1,400 workouts by seven bodyguards over the past year, revealing the prime minister&#8217;s home address, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia&#8217;s vacation information, top state meetings and more.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/jul\/08\/swedish-pm-safety-strava-data-bodyguards-ulf-kristersson-running-cycling-routes\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian<\/a>, their tracked movements included spots around the world, from Central Park in New York City to areas close to the Ukrainian border in Poland.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThe Swedish Security Police take the information very seriously,\u201d said a spokesperson for S\u00e4kerhetspolisen (S\u00c4PO), per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/world\/europe\/swedish-bodyguards-fitness-app-data-revealed-private-locations-royal-f-rcna217943\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a>. \u201cThis is a matter of data that could be used to gather information about the activities of our Service.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cDignitaries that our Service is responsible for protecting are subject to several layers of protection, where their close protection by bodyguards is one layer,\u201d the spokesperson added. \u201cOur Service is now taking the necessary steps to ensure that our procedures are followed closely, so that this does not happen again.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p> King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden.<br \/>\nPONTUS LUNDAHL\/TT News Agency\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The prime minister\u2019s office and the Swedish Royal Court did not offer a comment on the report.
