Pull out your calendars\u2014it’s time to mark the remaining bank holidays for 2025. In England and Wales, only three are left this year, with the next one coming up in just over a month.<\/p>\n
Sadly, there are no current plans to add extra holidays to the total eight we’re receiving in 2025, as there are no upcoming national events on the horizon. However, many Brits will be glad to hear that one is scheduled during the peak of summer on August 25, allowing us to (hopefully) enjoy some much-needed sunshine.<\/p>\n
The remaining bank holiday dates for England and Wales in 2025 include:<\/p>\n

- Summer bank holiday: August 25 (Monday)<\/li>\n
- Christmas Day: December 25 (Thursday)<\/li>\n
- Boxing Day: December 26 (Friday)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
While England and Wales have just three bank holidays left, residents of Scotland and Northern Ireland still have four to enjoy in 2025. In Scotland, these fall on August 4, December 1 of St Andrew’s Day, in addition to Christmas and Boxing Day.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Northern Ireland’s bank holidays fall on July 14, marking the Battle of Boyne and August 25, followed by December 25 and 26. Anyone who is particularly organised and eager to plan for their 2026 and 2027 bank holidays can do so now, as the Government has already announced<\/a> its upcoming schedule.<\/p>\n

- New Year’s Day: January 1 (Thursday)<\/li>\n
- Good Friday: April 3 (Friday)<\/li>\n
- Easter Monday: April 6 (Monday)<\/li>\n
- Early May bank holiday: May 4 (Monday)<\/li>\n
- Spring bank holiday: May 25 (Monday)<\/li>\n
- Summer bank holiday: August 31 (Monday)<\/li>\n
- Christmas Day: December 25 (Friday)<\/li>\n
- Boxing Day (substitute day): December 28 (Monday)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
And for 2027, the Government also outlines:<\/p>\n
Substitute days take place when a typical bank holiday falls on a weekend. Normally, these substitute days, such as Boxing Day in 2026, fall on a Monday.<\/p>\n
While many people enjoy the day off on a bank holiday, it is crucial to note that you are not always guaranteed to get paid leave. It is worth discussing your options with an employer.<\/p>\n
Bank holidays can also affect how and when benefits are paid. If your payment date falls on a weekend or bank holiday, you’ll likely be paid the working day before. However, this may differ for the Child Benefit.<\/p>\n
