{"id":257385,"date":"2025-07-11T23:02:13","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T23:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/257385\/"},"modified":"2025-07-11T23:02:13","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T23:02:13","slug":"nvidias-jensen-huang-says-ai-could-lead-to-job-losses-if-the-world-runs-out-of-ideas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/257385\/","title":{"rendered":"Nvidia\u2019s Jensen Huang says AI could lead to job losses \u2018if the world runs out of ideas\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>      CNN<br \/>\n        \u00a0\u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcz12w7v017t27pa28bkhobo@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The chief executive of the world\u2019s leading chipmaker warned that while artificial intelligence will significantly boost workplace productivity, it could lead to job loss if industries lack innovation.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcz1n9lr00093b6nab7lmhnw@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cIf the world runs out of ideas, then productivity gains translates to job loss,\u201d said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in an interview with CNN\u2019s Fareed Zakaria when asked about comments made<strong> <\/strong>by fellow tech leader Dario Amodei, who suggested AI will cause mass employment disruptions.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcz49bn000083b6nt45clo2v@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Amodei, the head of Anthropic, warned last month that the technology could cause <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/05\/29\/tech\/ai-anthropic-ceo-dario-amodei-unemployment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a dramatic spike<\/a> in unemployment in the very near future. He told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/05\/28\/ai-jobs-white-collar-unemployment-anthropic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios<\/a> that AI could eliminate half of entry-level, white-collar jobs and spike unemployment to as much as 20% in the next five years.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcz4dnrq000g3b6ntstyvr80@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Huang believes that as long as companies come up with fresh ideas, there\u2019s room for productivity and employment to thrive. But without new ambitions, \u201cproductivity drives down,\u201d he said, potentially resulting in fewer jobs.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcza33l000003b6nhtcujoly@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cThe fundamental thing is this, do we have more ideas left in society? And if we do, if we\u2019re more productive, we\u2019ll be able to grow,\u201d he said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcz1xtnp000j3b6n37ce0b2o@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The increase in AI investments, which fueled a massive technology boom in recent years, has raised concerns about whether the technology will threaten jobs in the future. Roughly 41% of chief executives have said AI will reduce the number of workers at thousands of companies over the next five years, according to a 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/04\/05\/business\/ai-job-losses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survey<\/a> from staffing firm Adecco Group. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/01\/08\/business\/ai-job-losses-by-2030-intl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survey released<\/a> in January from the World Economic Forum showed 41% of employers plan to downsize their workforce by 2030 because of AI automation.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcz4lf4b000s3b6nkhhl4mhi@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cEverybody\u2019s jobs will be affected. Some jobs will be lost. Many jobs will be created and what I hope is that the productivity gains that we see in all the industries will lift society,\u201d Huang said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcz4c782000c3b6nxfnw6zry@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Nvidia, which briefly reached <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/09\/investing\/nvidia-is-the-first-usd4-trillion-company\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$4 trillion in market value<\/a>, is among the companies leading<strong> <\/strong>the AI revolution. The Santa Clara, California-based chipmaker\u2019s technology has been used to power data centers that companies like Microsoft, Amazon and Google use to operate their AI models and cloud services.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcz1gtuo00063b6n20d6elgn@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Huang defended the development of AI, saying that \u201cover the course of the last 300 years, 100 years, 60 years, even in the era of computers,\u201d both employment and productivity increased.
