A Liverpool pub has temporarily closed its doors as it undergoes a major refurbishment, before opening with a new name. The Bootle<\/a> Arms in Melling<\/a> will close for a number of weeks before welcoming customers back on Wednesday, July 23. The venue is set to rebrand as Woodie\u2019s Pub, a new ‘family concept’ from the Marston\u2019s chain.<\/p>\n

The much-loved community pub<\/a> is being transformed with new features, including Woodie\u2019s Den, a woodland-themed area where kids can let their \u201cimaginations run wild\u201d with games, craft activities, and special events such as discos, karaoke, and quizzes. When the sun is shining, children will be able to explore the garden and let loose in the outdoor play area, while their parents relax nearby with a drink in hand.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the reopening, the pub is hosting an all-day family festival on Saturday, July 26, with a bouncy castle, face painting, live entertainment, disco, kids\u2019 crafts, and live music from Paul Connor, a Scouse contestant from the last season of The Voice UK.<\/a><\/p>\n

Local families with babies born in the last 12 months will be invited to be VIPs at the family festival, with newborns receiving a keepsake Woodie\u2019s onesie.<\/p>\n

The Bootle Arms general manager, Grant Pinches, said: \u201cWe\u2019re so excited to be one of the first Marston\u2019s pubs to be transforming into a Woodie\u2019s.<\/p>\n

“The Bootle Arms is such an important part of our local community, and we want to get as many local families involved as possible by sharing their pub memories during our opening weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to reopen our doors, show everyone what we\u2019ve done to the place and welcome in local adults and kids to make some new memories together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company said that to ensure locals feel part of Woodie\u2019s fabric from the outset, Marston\u2019s is launching a \u2018Pint For Your Past\u2019 initiative.<\/p>\n

As part of the scheme, the venue will give away free pints in exchange for local stories and memories of The Bootle Arms, which will feature on a memory wall over the opening weekend.<\/p>\n

Alongside a menu of pub classics, The Bootle Arms will serve Marston\u2019s kids\u2019 menu and be home to the Sweet Factory, a self-serve bar where kids can swap tokens for treats to top their Sundae dessert.<\/p>\n

The Bootle Arms will also be offering a \u2018Kids Eat for \u00a31\u2019 deal all summer. Kids can also eat for free every Wednesday during the school holidays.<\/p>\n
