Ghost<\/a> have kicked off their \u2018Skeletour\u2019 world tour in Manchester, premiering several new songs in the process \u2013 see the full setlist below.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the release of their new album \u2018Skeleta\u2019<\/a> \u2013 due out on April 25 via Loma Vista and available for\u00a0pre-order here<\/a> \u2013 band mastermind and frontman Tobias Forge and co. took over the AO Arena in Manchester to kick off their extensive tour of the UK, Europe and North America<\/a> last night (April 15).<\/p>\n

Due to their implementation of a \u201cphone-free\u201d rule for their 2025 tour<\/a> \u2013 designed to force fans to be present and engage with their live show \u2013 footage of the gig is not yet available. However, the tour\u2019s setlist has been revealed, and has seen the premiere of new songs as well as live debuts of several older cuts.<\/p>\n

To kick off the \u2018Skeleta\u2019 tour with a band, Ghost premiered a new song, \u2018Peacefield\u2019, followed by the live debut of their latest single \u2018Lachryma\u2019, which they released last week<\/a> (April 11).<\/p>\n

Later on in the show, they performed several songs for the first time since 2019, such as \u2018Spirit\u2019 and \u2018Majesty\u2019, before the live debut of their 2024 one-off track \u2018The Future is a Foreign Land\u2019<\/a> released as a tie-in for their debut film Rite Here Rite Now<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They then performed \u2018Darkness at the Heart of My Love\u2019 off 2022\u2019s \u2018Impera\u2019 and \u2018Satanized\u2019<\/a>, the lead single from the forthcoming \u2018Skeleta\u2019 for the first time ever and played the world premiere of their unreleased track \u2018Umbra\u2019.<\/p>\n

Towards the end of the show, they re-introduced the fan favourite \u2018Monstrance Clock\u2019 for the first time since 2019.<\/p>\n

Recently, Tobias Forge spoke to NME as part of the In Conversation series<\/a>, and explained what he means when he says the LP has an inward-looking approach. \u201c\u200aI\u2019m not a great salesman, but it\u2019s 10 songs of hopefully healing joy,\u201d he said. \u201cThe previous record was written as part of a socially-reflective bigger picture. It was about shining a light on society. So when making a new record, I wasn\u2019t enthused by the idea of writing a follow-up or \u2018Impera 2\u2019 \u2014 I wanted it to be something else.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always tried to do something different from the previous one, so this time, I wanted to make a record that was based on introspection.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then went on to\u00a0explain why Ghost are \u201cliving proof\u201d that rock isn\u2019t dead<\/a>, reveal how he has\u00a0taken inspiration from Black Sabbath<\/a>, and\u00a0suggest to\u00a0NME\u00a0that the band\u2019s signature lore may be coming to an end in the future.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI think that there might be an end to the storytelling because it\u2019s not productive to have this endless soap opera. If fans need the lore in order to like the band, then that element will probably be over quite soon,\u201d he said of the latter.<\/p>\n
