The woman is alleged to have locked the dog inside despite it being a hot summer&#8217;s day in southern Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the high temperatures, the locker space was made even tighter for the dog by a stroller inside the same locker. According to reporting from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com.\/world\/hot-dog-survives-locker-ordeal-germanys-neuschwanstein-castle-2025-07-06\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reuters<\/a>, security staff freed the dog after being alerted by other tourists.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The dog was fortunately unharmed but visibly glad when it was rescued from the already hot locker,&#8221; police said.<\/p>\n<p>Police said that criminal proceedings have begun against the owner on suspicion of breaking Germany&#8217;s animal welfare law. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com.\/world\/hot-dog-survives-locker-ordeal-germanys-neuschwanstein-castle-2025-07-06\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reported that the dog involved in the incident was a mongrel, or an unknown breed.<\/p>\n<p>Located in southern Germany near the Austrian border and completed in 1886, Neuschwanstein Castle famously served as the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty&#8217;s castle in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/travel\/experience\/theme-parks\/2025\/06\/24\/disneyland-disney-world-halloween-plans\/84186827007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disneyland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Contributing: Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Fernando Cervantes Jr. is a trending news reporter for USA TODAY.
