Charlotte Crosby won our hearts on MTV\u2019s Geordie Shore with her hilarious shenanigans and drunken capers. It\u2019s been 14 years since that first series aired, and a lot has changed for the Sunderland native.<\/p>\n
For a start, she\u2019s now a busy mum to Alba Jean, two, and five-month-old Pixi Cecilia, who she shares with her fianc\u00e9 Jake Ankers. Now the 35-year-old has added a new string to her bow, in the shape of her debut novel, a coming-of-age story called Lucky Break.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a fun summer read set in the wild world<\/a> of reality TV, full of scandal and laugh-out-loud characters. You sound like a busy woman at the moment\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n It feels like I\u2019m on the verge of a nervous breakdown every day. I\u2019ve got two kids, I\u2019m filming a TV show for Paramount plus a reality show about my life, and I\u2019m bringing out this book.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve got three businesses. It\u2019s not for the faint of heart. I think only a small percentage of people could deal with this.<\/p>\n Alba has been going through a phase of biting her little sister \u2013 how\u2019s she doing now?<\/strong><\/p>\n She\u2019s still very much in the phase of wanting to hurt Pixi. Listen, you always have to have that little chat with them and ask, \u201cWhy would you want to hurt your little sister? You love her.\u201d It\u2019s a stage.<\/p>\n How do you ground yourself in those difficult moments?<\/strong><\/p>\n Alba is actually an angel \u2013mostly \u2013 and Pixi is an angel, the happiest little baby. So we have just never had moments where I ever feel that angry, you know? I have more moments where I\u2019m in fits of laughter, because Alba is the funniest little girl.<\/p>\n She\u2019s such a character. So, luckily, I\u2019m laughing more than I\u2019m thinking about how to control a tough moment.<\/p>\n Would you say that you and Jake share similar parenting styles?<\/strong><\/p>\n Sometimes we totally agree on everything, sometimes we don\u2019t. But I think when the children get older, there\u2019ll be an element of like, \u201cOkay, Jake, that\u2019s yours to handle, and I\u2019ll do this.\u201d<\/p>\n How do you feel about your children seeing Geordie Shore<\/a> one day?<\/strong><\/p>\n Geordie Shore<\/a> is now two decades old. I\u2019m never going to say, \u201cKnow what we should do? Sit down and watch Geordie Shore.\u201d My mum would never have said to me, \u201cDo you know what we should do, Charlotte? We should get out all my home movies from when I used to go out on the weekend with my friends.\u201d<\/p>\n And I would never, as a daughter, be like, \u201cYeah, shall we?\u201d I\u2019d be like, \u201cOh, no, I\u2019m so embarrassed.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s a rite of passage to be embarrassed by your parents!<\/strong><\/p>\n Exactly. It\u2019s so uncool. So I know that moment is never going to come where Alba wants to watch her mum get drunk on TV. I\u2019m going to tell her of all the fun stuff I\u2019ve done but I\u2019m not going to tell her about everything.<\/p>\n I used to be embarrassed if my mum was even drunk when I had my friends around. In 10 years\u2019 time, when Alba is 12, I honestly think her generation will not have a clue what the f**k Geordie Shore is.<\/p>\n What are your hopes for your kids as they get older?<\/strong><\/p>\n To try loads of different things. I didn\u2019t have any hobbies when I was little. I didn\u2019t go to dance, gymnastics, I didn\u2019t own an instrument. I feel like I just didn\u2019t have anything, which upsets me now, because I think if I had, I would be quite talented now, because I do stick at things.<\/p>\n I\u2019d like them to dabble in a lot of different things, and if they love something, I\u2019d love them to just keep at it.<\/p>\n Haven\u2019t you guys recently bought a villa in Spain?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes, we have! And I got my hair done there by someone from Essex. She\u2019s lived there since she was seven and is fluent in Spanish because she was young enough. That is something that I\u2019m constantly thinking about, because we\u2019re going to be over in Spain a lot. The girls could pick up Spanish quite easily because they\u2019re so young.<\/p>\n What made you decide to go into fiction writing?<\/strong><\/p>\n I was approached to do it and I was like, \u201cYes!\u201d I suddenly found myself driving and thinking about all these stories, what it would be called. After the call with the publisher I already had the title, the plotline, everything in my head as if it had been there for years. I\u2019m excited. I just want it to hurry up and be out now.<\/p>\n Are any of the characters inspired by people you know in real life?<\/strong><\/p>\n Well, I did say to my friends Holly [Hagan] and Sophie [Kasaei] that there are two girls in this book \u2013 but I don\u2019t want you to get carried away.
