Jobe Bellingham could be set to join his older brother on a glittering list of winners at the EFL Awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sunderland<\/a> midfielder has been nominated for this year’s Championship Young Player of the Season.<\/p>\n

On loan Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> star Shea Charles and Burnley<\/a> defender CJ Egan-Riley complete the three-man shortlist.<\/p>\n

Jude Bellingham<\/a> previously won the award five years ago after his own breakthrough campaign.<\/p>\n

His younger sibling could now repeat the feat five years on whilst still aged just 19.<\/p>\n

Bellingham has scored four goals and provided three assists in 36 league appearances for the Black Cats this term.<\/p>\n

Those goal contributions have helped Sunderland secure their place in the play-offs.<\/p>\n

With four matches remaining, Regis Le Bris’ side sit fourth in the table and are guaranteed a top five finish.<\/p>\n

It will be the club’s highest final position since their relegation from the Premier League<\/a> in 2017.<\/p>\n

Le Bris has also been recognised for his transformation of the fortunes at the Stadium of Light.<\/p>\n

Sunderland finished a disappointing 16th last season prior to the Frenchman’s takeover in the summer.<\/p>\n

The 49-year-old is up for the Championship Manager of the Season alongside Daniel Farke<\/a> of Leeds, Burnley’s Scott Parker<\/a> and Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Chris Rigg<\/a> completes the list of Sunderland nominees with a place on the Championship Apprentice of the Season shortlist.<\/p>\n

As for Bellingham, he could emulate his brother’s own achievement in 2020.<\/p>\n

The Real Madrid<\/a> and England man made 41 appearances for Birmingham as a 16-year-old in his debut season in senior football.<\/p>\n

His four goals and two assists were enough to earn a move to Borussia Dortmund<\/a> at the end of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Previous winners of the prestigious award also include Michael Olise<\/a> and Gareth Bale<\/a>, who took home the gong in 2021 and 2007, respectively.<\/p>\n

Bellingham is now into his second season with Sunderland after joining the Black Cats from Birmingham in 2023.<\/p>\n

He has already been rewarded with a new deal, penning a four-year contract with the club last summer.<\/p>\n
