{"id":259698,"date":"2025-07-12T19:14:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T19:14:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/259698\/"},"modified":"2025-07-12T19:14:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T19:14:11","slug":"kate-middleton-attends-1st-wimbledon-since-cancer-remission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/259698\/","title":{"rendered":"Kate Middleton Attends 1st Wimbledon Since Cancer Remission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"anchor-5b6247\" class=\"body-graf\">Catherine, Princess of Wales, arrived at Wimbledon to a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Wimbledon\/status\/1944048485151416827\" target=\"_blank\">standing ovation<\/a>, marking a notable public appearance after announcing her remission from cancer.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-95e8b7\" class=\"body-graf\">The former Kate Middleton attended the women\u2019s final on Saturday, July 12, to watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/news\/sports\/iga-swiatek-wins-wimbledon-amanda-anisimova-rcna218448\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">matchup between Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek. <\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-152895\" class=\"body-graf\">At the event, she donned a cream-colored set, which included a short-sleeved belted jacket top paired with a tea-length pleated skirt and nude heels.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-80afa5\" class=\"body-graf\">During the women\u2019s final, she was seated in the royal box at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club next to tennis legend Billie Jean King. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/kate-billie-jean-king-me-250712-33bf0d.jpg\" alt=\"Day Thirteen: The Championships - Wimbledon 2025\" height=\"2667\" width=\"4000\"\/>Catherine, Princess of Wales, shakes hands with Billie Jean King.Clive Brunskill \/ Getty Images<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/tdy-kate-middleton-billie-jean-king-inline-ld-250712-4c9370.jpg\" alt=\"Billie Jean King and Kate Middleton\" height=\"2701\" width=\"3781\"\/>Billie Jean King and Catherine, Princess of Wales, attend the women&#8217;s singles championship at Wimbledon.Karwai Tang \/ WireImage<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-870197\" class=\"body-graf\">The women\u2019s final match ended in defeat for Anisimova, who was bested 6-0, 6-0 by Swiatek, marking her sixth Grand Slam title.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-5723d8\" class=\"body-graf\">After the win, Kate, who has been the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016,<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Wimbledon\/status\/1944071599285588330\" target=\"_blank\"> presented Swiatek with the women\u2019s singles trophy on the court<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-e84941\" class=\"body-graf\">Last year, Kate attended the men\u2019s singles final alongside daughter Princess Charlotte in July 2024, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/news\/royals\/kate-middleton-wimbledon-2024-rcna161706\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">marked only her second public appearance<\/a> after announcing her cancer diagnosis in March of that year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-66d472\" class=\"body-graf\">Her attendance was widely celebrated, with Kate receiving a round of applause as well as a standing ovation as she made her way to the royal box.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-c288fc\" class=\"body-graf\">Over the last year and a half, Kate has faced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/kate-middleton-cancer-rcna144691\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">several public health issues<\/a>, including undergoing \u201cplanned abdominal surgery\u201d in January 2024. Months later in March 2024, Kate announced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/C402JKPtLVB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a video statement<\/a> that she was diagnosed with cancer and was in the \u201cearly stages\u201d of undergoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/preventive-chemotherapy-kate-middleton-rcna144720\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">preventive chemotherapy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-4310c8\" class=\"body-graf\">Kate announced in September 2024 that she had<a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/popculture\/royals\/kate-middleton-video-completed-chemotherapy-transcript-rcna170237\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> completed her chemotherapy treatment <\/a>and would return to making more public appearances. At the time, she said, \u201cLife as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-321dee\" class=\"body-graf\">It was announced in January this year that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/news\/kate-middelton-remission-announcement-rcna187618\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kate\u2019s cancer was in remission.<\/a> In a statement shared to social media at the time, the royal called the news \u201ca relief,\u201d noting that she now would \u201cremain focused on recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-845d79\" class=\"body-graf\">Earlier this month, Kate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/disease\/kate-middleton-discusses-life-after-cancer-treatment-rcna216473\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gave rare comments about her experience with cancer<\/a> at a hospital in Essex, England. Per video from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c6257z1w5ypo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a>, Kate told patients, \u201cYou put on a sort of brave face (with) stoicism through treatment. (When) treatment\u2019s done, then it\u2019s like, \u2018I can crack on, get back to normal again.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-64816f\" class=\"body-graf\">Kate noted that going back to normal after completing treatment isn\u2019t always the reality for many patients, adding, \u201cBut actually the phase afterwards is really difficult.
