Masked Singer host Joel Dommett<\/a> has finally lifted the lid on a behind-the-scenes moment he says was the \u2018funniest thing I\u2019ve ever seen in my life.\u2019 <\/p>\n

The comedian and presenter, 39, joined Fearne Cotton on BBC<\/a> Radio 2 this week, where he recalled his most memorable reveal on The Masked Singer<\/a> UK, and naturally, it featured Macy Gray\u2019s infamous exit.<\/p>\n

Asked if he had a favourite unmasking, Joel didn\u2019t hesitate \u2013 but it wasn\u2019t just Macy Gray\u2019s name that made it special.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was so awkward,\u2019 he laughed, before calling the moment \u2018the best reveal for so many reasons\u2019 and admitting it was comedy<\/a> gold from start to finish.<\/p>\n

What made it even funnier? The fact that Macy, disguised in an enormous toad costume, tried to storm off<\/a> the stage in protest, and the producers cut Joel\u2019s best line from the episode.<\/p>\n

\u2018We did the reveal \u2013 Macy Gray \u2013 everyone\u2019s happy\u2026 apart from her,\u2019 Joel laughed during the radio chat.<\/p>\n

He then revealed the line he delivered during her now-viral walk-off:
\u2018It\u2019s Macy Gray everybody\u2026 she said goodbye \u2013 and she croaked.\u2019<\/p>\n

Cue Fearne trying not to burst into fits of laughter.<\/p>\n

But as Joel revealed, the moment never made it to air.<\/p>\n

\u2018They cut it out. I\u2019m absolutely livid about that,\u2019 he joked. \u2018Might be the funniest I have ever been.\u2019<\/p>\n

Apparently, even The Masked Singer has its limits when it comes to froggy wordplay.<\/p>\n

The incident unfolded during a previous season when Macy Gray competed in disguise as \u2018Toad in the Hole\u2019 \u2013 sporting a purple suit whilst wearing what can only be described as a Yorkshire pudding belt.<\/p>\n

Fans instantly suspected the Grammy-winning artist behind the mask thanks to her distinctive vocals \u2013\u00a0 but producers chose to unmask a different contestant, a decision which did not go down well with the American singer.<\/p>\n

When she was finally eliminated and unmasked, Joel described her reaction as nothing short of TV history.<\/p>\n

\u2018One of the characters gets voted off, and they are really not happy about it. Like genuinely,\u2019 he said in a separate interview with Principle Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018You can\u2019t be vexed when you\u2019re dressed as a toad,\u2019 he laughed.<\/p>\n

And yet, that\u2019s exactly what happened.<\/p>\n

According to Joel, Macy refused to come back on stage for over an hour after her unmasking. What audiences saw on air was just a fraction of the tension backstage.<\/p>\n

Describing the visual, Joel has previously said watching a six-foot toad sulking off stage was the most hilarious thing he\u2019s ever witnessed on set.<\/p>\n

And it seems The Masked Singer team weren\u2019t quite sure how to handle it either. Despite the polished edit that eventually aired, production scrambled to coax her back on stage so the show could finish the segment.<\/p>\n

The Masked Singer is no stranger to bizarre TV moments. From dramatic walk-offs to wild guesses and tearful reveals, the show thrives on unpredictability \u2013 but Macy\u2019s exit might just top the list.<\/p>\n

The U.S. star isn\u2019t the first celebrity to take issue with their portrayal on the show, but according to Joel, her reaction set a new bar.<\/p>\n

Joel told Paddy McGuinness in a previous Radio 2 interview,\u00a0 \u2018She\u2019s a legend with a recognisable voice, and we all knew it was her.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

Even now, months after it aired, Joel still ranks it as his top moment on the show.<\/p>\n

Whether or not his \u2018croaked\u2019 joke ever gets resurrected in a blooper reel remains to be seen, but fans are calling for an uncut version to finally surface.<\/p>\n

Until then, Joel will just have to settle for the honour of surviving Masked Singer\u2019s most awkward diva exit \u2013 in hot pants, no less.<\/p>\n
