{"id":260330,"date":"2025-07-13T01:08:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T01:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/260330\/"},"modified":"2025-07-13T01:08:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T01:08:11","slug":"fontaines-d-c-led-chants-of-free-palestine-at-trnsmt-festival-in-glasgow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/260330\/","title":{"rendered":"Fontaines D.C led chants of &#8220;free Palestine\u201d at TRNSMT festival in Glasgow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The group The Fontaines D.C were performing the penultimate main stage act at the music festival in Glasgow.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_JS375142858.jpg\" alt=\"Music fans on the second day of the TRNSMT Festival.\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Music fans on the second day of the TRNSMT Festival.(Image: Getty)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Fontaines D.C led chants of &#8220;free Palestine\u201d at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/middle-east\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"TRNSMTLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">TRNSMT<\/a> as the penultimate main stage act at the music festival in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Many in the crowd were seen donning the Irish Tricolour, while others brought<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/middle-east\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" Palestine flags.Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Palestine flags.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Near the end of the show, a massive <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/middle-east\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Palestine flagLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Palestine flag<\/a> was put on screen in the middle of the stage, while huge screens flanked on either side of the stage read: \u201cIsrael is committing a genocide use your voice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cGlasgow is home away from home,\u201d he told the tens of thousands of fans who braved 30-degree weather to see them live, dedicating the song <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/middle-east\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"FavouriteLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Favourite<\/a> to the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Irish group had a<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/middle-east\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" Palestine flagLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Palestine flag<\/a> draped over their equipment on stage and Carlos O&#8217;Connell had a free Palestine sticker on his guitar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/middle-east\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"pinnacle of the setLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">pinnacle of the set<\/a> was when the group performed I Love You from their album, Skinty Fia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Free Palestine appeared on the two big screens on either side of the stage as Grian belted the line &#8216;<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/middle-east\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Selling genocideLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Selling genocide<\/a>&#8216; in the song&#8217;s bridge and a Palestine flag appeared on the huge screen behind them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The chants and promotion of the &#8216;free Palestine&#8217;
