Nick Offerman<\/a> has given a comprehensive response to \u201cdumb people\u201d<\/a> who have long-since claimed that his fan favorite character on sitcom Parks and Recreation would have been a supporter of Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Offerman, who played the gruff, manly, mustachioed Ron Swanson on the show,<\/a> said that the character was held up by many for \u201cthe wrong reasons\u201d and misinterpreted the Libertarian<\/a> who was \u201ccool with everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLike, dumb people insist that Ron Swanson would\u2019ve voted for Trump,\u201d he said in a recent interview with Indie Wire.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I don\u2019t deign to answer myself. I take it to Mike Schur, the main creator of Ron, and he said, \u2018Swanson would\u2019ve despised Trump, because Ron loved capitalism. And Trump made the stupidest move you could make as a capitalist, which is to go into public service.\u2019 <\/p>\n

\u201cHe would think he\u2019s an absolute idiot. He would also despise him because he\u2019s disrespectful to women and many others. And that\u2019s just an example of all the people and value sets that Ron would despise, because Ron is a good person.\u201d<\/p>\n

Offerman has previously been outspoken about the misuse of his character online.<\/p>\n

Last month he responded to a homophobic post by Michael Flynn Jr., the son of Donald Trump\u2019s former National Security Advisor<\/a>. <\/p>\n

On the first day of Pride Month<\/a>, Flynn Jr. shared an edited clip from Parks and Recreation of Offerman\u2019s curmudgeonly Ron Swanson angrily chucking an old computer monitor into the garbage \u2014 with the monitor replaced with a rainbow Pride flag.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood morning and Happy Sunday! No quotes today. Just wanted to post how I feel about \u2018pride\u2019 month,\u201d Flynn Jr. wrote.<\/p>\n
