Huddersfield Giants forward Sam Hewitt was taken to hospital on Friday night with a suspected broken jaw, head coach Luke Robinson has confirmed. The Giants suffered yet another Super League defeat on Friday night as they surrendered a 10-point half-time lead to lose 30-10 at Wigan Warriors.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was a costly night in more ways than one for Huddersfield, too, with the West Yorkshire outfit having a number of fresh injury issues to contend with. Tom Burgess missed the game through illness, Robinson confirmed, with the veteran pulling himself out of the contest the night before.<\/p>\n

However, Adam Swift dropped out of the warm up at the Brick Community Stadium, while Joe Greenwood and Sam Hewitt left the fray in the first half and couldn\u2019t return. Greenwood failed a HIA but Hewitt, who was making his return from a head knock, appeared to fracture his jaw in a collision with Junior Nsemba.<\/p>\n

The back-rower was taken to hospital with Robinson speaking on his injury fears after the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cBurgess was out due to illness last night,\u201d the Huddersfield head coach said when addressing injuries and absentees. \u201cSwifty had to pull himself out of the warm up with a tight abductor.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks like Sam Hewitt has potentially broken his jaw, we\u2019ll find that out now when he goes to hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe Greenwood couldn\u2019t come back on with a head knock, we lost two to head knocks and it really affected our ability to make substitutions in that second half.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Hewitt, he added: \u201cHe didn\u2019t actually fail an HIA, it\u2019s just we think he\u2019d broken his jaw.\u201d<\/p>\n

Huddersfield have had more than their fair share of injuries this season and Robinson will be hoping the issue isn\u2019t quite as bad as first feared.<\/p>\n

The head coach also gave an update on the future of Matt Frawley, who is coming to the end of his loan from Leeds Rhinos. Frawley joined Huddersfield on a month-long deal in June and has played four games for the club since.<\/p>\n

However, it remains to be seen if he will pull on the claret and gold of Huddersfield again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe tried at the beginning of the year to play without a genuine half when Cluney was out at the beginning of the year and it didn\u2019t work out too well for us,\u201d Robinson said when asked about his Frawley plans. \u201cSince he\u2019s come on loan, we\u2019ve picked up some victories and he\u2019s been instrumental in that so he\u2019s someone who we\u2019d love to keep on board.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously that\u2019s something the club will be having with Leeds about whether that\u2019s something we can continue or not. From my perspective he\u2019s made a big difference so I\u2019d like to keep him.\u201d<\/p>\n
