Grammy-winning R&B artist Chris Brown pleaded not guilty Friday to two additional charges related to an alleged assault on a music producer at a London nightclub in 2023, according to the Associated Press.<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old singer denied charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon \u2014 a bottle \u2014 during a brief appearance at Southwark Crown Court. The incident took place at Tape nightclub in the upscale Mayfair area in February 2023 and was reportedly caught on surveillance footage.<\/p>\n
Brown had previously pleaded not guilty to a more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm during a court hearing last month.<\/p>\n
Wearing a light brown suit, Brown entered the courtroom as around 20 supporters watched from the public gallery. Several gasped when the singer walked in. He is best known for hits like \u201cGo Crazy,\u201d \u201cRun It,\u201d and \u201cKiss Kiss.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brown\u2019s co-defendant, fellow musician Omololu Akinlolu, 39, also pleaded not guilty to one count of actual bodily harm during the same hearing.<\/p>\n
In May, Brown was released on bail set at \u00a35 million (approximately $6.75 million), which allowed him to proceed with his \u201cBreezy Bowl XX\u201d tour. After completing dates across Europe, he is scheduled to perform in Miami later this month before continuing his North American leg, including a two-night stop in Toronto.<\/p>\n
Brown rose to stardom in 2005 and has won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album \u2014 first in 2011 for F.A.M.E. and most recently for 11:11 (Deluxe) earlier this year.
