Three men have been arrested after live guns and ammunition were discovered in two raids across Birmingham in unconnected investigations\"OneOne of two guns recovered by West Midlands Police’s Major Crime Team in Erdington and Small Heath on consecutive days <\/p>\n

Guns and ammunition were recovered following unconnected raids at two Birmingham<\/a> addresses.<\/p>\n

The first raid took place in Woodman Walk, near Witton Lakes, in Erdington<\/a> on Friday, July 11.<\/p>\n

Officers searched a home and found a live firearm and several rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n

Police also found suspected Class A drugs, a large amount of cannabis and \u2018other drug-related material\u2019.<\/p>\n

The next day a second unconnected raid was carried out in St Benedict\u2019s Road in Small Heath<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There officers from West Midlands Police<\/a> \u2019s Major Crime Team searched a home and found another live firearm, ammunition, a lock knife and suspected Class B drugs.<\/p>\n

The gun was said to have been a converted blank firearm with three rounds of live ammunition \u2018ready to be fired\u2019.<\/p>\n

Across the two addresses three men were arrested.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: \u201cWe have taken several firearms off the streets and made significant arrests as we keep up our work against serious and organised crime in the West Midlands.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers from our Major Crime Team carried out searches at an address in St Benedict’s Road on July 12, where they found a live firearm and suspected class B drugs, as well as a locking knife.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe gun was a converted blank-firer with three rounds of live ammunition ready to be fired.<\/p>\n

\u201cA man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of possession of a prohibited firearm.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe remains in custody today while our enquiries continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement continued: \u201cElsewhere, a warrant was carried out July 11 in Woodman Walk and two men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers searched the property and found suspected Class A drugs as well as a live firearm and several rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n

\u201cA large amount of cannabis and other drug-related material was also found and is being examined.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe two men arrested have been bailed while our enquiries continue.<\/p>\n

In addition the police spokesperson added: \u201cAcross the West Midlands, our teams are carrying out regular operations to disrupt serious and organised crime.<\/p>\n
