Birmingham City return to St Andrew’s on Good Friday where they will hope to lick their wounds – and give League One strugglers Crawley Town a licking in the process.<\/p>\n
Blues suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat in the Vertu Trophy final at Wembley on Sunday, with Barry Fry’s Peterborough United winning the day.<\/p>\n
However, almost forgotten amid all the despondency was the fact that just 24 hours earlier Blues had been crowned League One champions as Wrexham slipped up at Wigan.<\/p>\n
Blues return to league action over the Easter weekend and are expected to be without club captain Krystian Bielik<\/a>.<\/p>\n Here is the rundown on Blues’ injury absentees…<\/p>\n Paik Seung-ho<\/p>\n Injury:<\/strong> Calf<\/p>\n South Korean star Paik has only recently returned from a hamstring issue so it was concerning to see him leave the field at Wembley early.<\/p>\n It was revealed afterwards that Paik had picked up a calf issue and will be assessed ahead of the Easter weekend matches.<\/p>\n “I know it was something to do with his calf, I don\u2019t know if it was cramp or more than that,” said Davies.<\/p>\n Krystian Bielik<\/p>\n Injury<\/strong>: Unspecified<\/p>\n The defender <\/a>was a surprise omission from the squad at Wembley. Having come back from a knock in the league match against Peterborough on Tuesday, he was once again absent in the final.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was an injury,\u201d Davies on April 13. \u201cIt\u2019s just a knock that he picked up from that game and he will be out of action for a couple of weeks I would say from now.\u201d<\/p>\n Emil Hansson<\/p>\n Injury:<\/strong> Unspecified<\/p>\n Hansson has now had three injuries in his first season at Blues. The first two kept him out for two months apiece, but Davies insists the Swede’s season isn’t over.<\/p>\n The Swede ‘just missed out’ on being fit for Wembley according to Davies and could make it back the final stretch.<\/p>\n Scott Wright<\/p>\n Injury:<\/strong> Knee<\/p>\n Wright has undergone surgery on the knee injury he sustained at Reading on February 22 and Davies has ruled him out until the latter part of 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s had his surgery and his early rehab has gone well,\u201d said Davies. \u201cI don\u2019t know a definitive timeframe, I know he\u2019s had that knee done before as well so I think that extends it slightly.<\/p>\n \u201cThese days it\u2019s six or seven months but I think it will be a bit longer because of the background to that knee. It\u2019s going to be right towards the end of the year I would say.\u201d<\/p>\n Lyndon Dykes<\/p>\n Injury:<\/strong> Calf<\/p>\n Dykes pulled up on the run during Blues’ 0-0 draw with Reading and hobbled off the field. The Scotland international appeared to be in a lot of discomfort and might not play again this season.<\/p>\n Davies said (February 25): \u201cHopefully we can see him before the end of this season. I would call it a medium term injury, not a quick turnaround but there\u2019s definitely a route back for him to get back before the end of this season and contribute. We\u2019ll miss him.”<\/p>\n Dykes was a wearing a protective boot at Wembley and has been confined to the gym at Blues’ training ground with Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright.<\/p>\n Lee Buchanan<\/p>\n Injury:<\/strong> Knee<\/p>\n Buchanan suffered a serious knee injury during the draw with Blackpool and will miss the remainder of the season. Davies said: \u201cLee\u2019s injury is quite severe as everyone would have guessed.
