Newcastle United cult hero John Anderson has warned the Magpies not to sell themselves short with their demands for Sean Longstaff – warning it would be a mistake to let the Geordie boy leave for a knockdown fee.<\/p>\n
The North Shields<\/a> lad is wanted by Leeds United and the black and whites are open to his sale if the price is right. Yet Anderson feels that Newcastle deserve a bigger fee than the \u00a310m on offer for Longstaff.<\/p>\n Anderson, speaking to BBC<\/a> Newcastle, feels that the midfielder’s drop down the pecking order has resulted in an exit few predicted only a season ago when the star popped up with some important contributions.<\/p>\n Anderson said: “Longstaff seems to have fallen out of favour at Newcastle. “Even when he wasn’t starting, Eddie Howe would always bring him on in games, but since January, he has fallen down the pecking order.<\/p>\n “He wasn’t getting as much game time as he would have to wanted either, so he needs the move because he needs to be playing football.<\/p>\n “Everyone knows that Newcastle’s midfield three picks itself now, but the deal has got to be right.”<\/p>\n Anderson feels that Newcastle can’t afford to hold on to a player just because he is a boyhood fan of the club.
