{"id":262061,"date":"2025-07-13T16:57:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T16:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/262061\/"},"modified":"2025-07-13T16:57:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T16:57:14","slug":"andy-murray-admits-the-match-where-he-felt-completely-humbled-by-roger-federer-and-could-barely-win-a-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/262061\/","title":{"rendered":"Andy Murray admits the match where he felt completely &#8216;humbled&#8217; by Roger Federer and could barely win a game"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Following the women\u2019s singles final at Wimbledon, it\u2019s hard to think of a time a player was dominated on the biggest stages in tennis as much as Amanda Anisimova was against Iga Swiatek. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/andy-roddick-says-if-he-thinks-iga-swiatek-should-have-given-amanda-anisimova-a-game-in-the-wimbledon-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swiatek battered Anisimova<\/a> 6-0, 6-0 to secure a maiden title at the All England Club, becoming the second woman in the Open Era to win a major final without conceding a game.<\/p>\n<p>It was a complete blowout, with the Pole producing some of the best grass-court tennis of her career, while nothing was going right for the American. <\/p>\n<p>The match was something two-time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/Wimbledon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wimbledon<\/a> champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/andy-murray\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andy Murray<\/a> could relate to, who recently recalled the time he could barely win a game against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/roger-federer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roger Federer<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"652\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2224797153-1024x652.jpg\" alt=\"Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova pose with their trophies after the 2025 Wimbledon final.\" class=\"wp-image-111365\" \/>Photo by Clive Brunskill\/Getty ImagesAndy Murray recalls his humbling experience against Roger Federer<\/p>\n<p>In an interview on \u2018The Tennis Mentor\u2019 YouTube channel, when asked to name a match that he felt humbled in, Murray said: \u201cThat\u2019s one of the things with tennis, you finish most weeks losing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven the greatest players, if they play 20 tournaments in a year, if they win five of them, that\u2019s a great season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say one of the matches where I was humbled was actually at the O2 arena, at the world tour finals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t remember if it was 6-0, 5-0. It was definitely 6-0, 3-0 before I won my first game. It was against Federer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was playing great, I was playing awful.
