{"id":262151,"date":"2025-07-13T17:46:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-13T17:46:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/262151\/"},"modified":"2025-07-13T17:46:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T17:46:09","slug":"glasgow-parkrun-event-hits-out-after-disgusting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/262151\/","title":{"rendered":"Glasgow parkrun event hits out after &#8216;disgusting\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  <strong>The organisers of a Glasgow parkrun event have hit out after an &#8220;incident involving a participant spitting&#8221;.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Elder Park parkrun was alerted to an &#8220;incident involving a parkrunner spitting on the course&#8221;\u00a0on Saturday, July 12.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In a post on Facebook, bosses of the event claimed &#8220;one of their regular runners ended up with phlegm on their glasses&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  They went on to describe the alleged incident as &#8220;despicable and disgusting&#8221;, while saying anyone found spitting during a parkrun at Elder Park in future, which impacts another participant, will be &#8220;reported to the police, accordingly&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In the post, Elder Park Parkrun said: &#8220;We were alerted on July 11\u00a0to an incident involving a parkrunner spitting on the course, to the point one of our regular parkrunners had phlegm on their glasses.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I thought we were all adults here at parkrun, and basic etiquette was instilled, but more fool me.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Let me remind you that not only is it a despicable and quite frankly a disgusting act, it&#8217;s also a criminal offence.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Anyone found, in future, spitting during a parkrun at Elder Park, which impacts another participant, will be reported to the Police accordingly.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We love putting on a weekly event for you all, as do all of our amazing volunteers, but things like this make us question why we bother?&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The organisers of a Glasgow parkrun event have hit out after an &#8220;incident involving a participant spitting&#8221;.
