Jaron Ennis<\/a> is being targeted for a showdown against a former world welterweight champion.<\/p>\n

Ennis remains unbeaten as a professional since his debut back in 2016, defeating all 34 of the opponents he has faced including Sergey Lipinets and David Avanesyan.<\/p>\n

\u2018Boots\u2019 had reigned as the unified WBA and IBF world welterweight champion since April, after he defeated Lithuania\u2019s Eimantas Stanionis via sixth round stoppage<\/a> in their showdown at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.<\/p>\n

It was confirmed earlier this week that Ennis had officially vacated his IBF crown<\/a> as he prepares to make the move up to super-welterweight, with rumours that he is in talks for a bout against countryman Vergil Ortiz Jr.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Mill City Boxing<\/a>, former world welterweight champion Keith Thurman expressed his interest in a showdown with Ennis, as he criticises the 28-year-old or not securing \u2018good fights\u2019 for himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on with Boots not taking good fights, I heard the fight with Vergil didn\u2019t happen, heard the fight against Teofimo didn\u2019t happen, that would never happen to Keith Thurman, send me both of those contracts, I still don\u2019t got a contract, where\u2019s my contract? Send me both of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd after I do what Boots don\u2019t wanna do, send me Boots, it don\u2019t matter man. You think beating Stanionis you did something in life kid? You think you really did something in life? That man stands there in the ring like his name bro, Stanionis, he was just standing there bro.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Thurman is expected to make a return to the ring before the end of the year, with his most recent outing coming against Australia\u2019s Brock Jarvis on March 12.<\/p>\n
