ITV has released a new trailer for Code of Silence<\/a>, the new thriller featuring Broadchurch<\/a> and Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> stars.<\/p>\n

EastEnders<\/a> star turned Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis leads as Alison Woods, a deaf catering worker who is hired by the police for her lip-reading skills.<\/p>\n

As we see in the trailer, the officers aren’t so sure that she’s up to the task as she lacks any sort of formal training. But she’s keen to prove herself.<\/p>\n

Her mission is to keep an eye on a gang on criminals, and use her skills to find out what they are planning.<\/p>\n

That’s already potentially dangerous enough, but she soon strikes up a bond with one of the gang members, putting the mission \u2013 and her own safety \u2013 at risk.<\/p>\n

Alongside Ayling-Ellis, the six-part series also stars Broadchurch’s Andrew Buchan, Ghosts actor Charlotte Ritchie<\/a>, Vampire Academy’s Kieron Moore, The Witcher<\/a>\u2019s Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, Doc Martin\u2019s Joe Absolom and Emmerdale<\/a>\u2019s Andrew Scarborough.<\/p>\n

The official synopsis for the “gripping” drama teases: “Balancing undercover work, family pressures, and emotional fallout, Alison is forced to confront her limits \u2013 and change the course of her life forever.”<\/p>\n

Ayling-Ellis recently appeared in the show Reunion<\/a>, from the makers of Netflix<\/a>‘s Adolescence<\/a>, and we thought it was “an excellent drama told by excellent actors”.<\/p>\n

She will also be appearing in the third episode of the current season of Doctor Who<\/a> (which will air on 26 April), and she recently revealed that<\/a>, while filming it, she had “never felt so gross in my whole life”.<\/p>\n

Code of Silence will premiere on <\/strong>ITV1, STV, ITV and STV Player on 18 May.<\/strong><\/p>\n
