Liam Lawson’s former DTM team-mate Nick Cassidy has backed the Racing Bulls driver to keep making progress, and reminded him that “people in motorsport have short memories”.<\/p>\n
Lawson endured a disastrous start to his first full-time season in F1 after being axed by Red Bull after just two races.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Red Bull opted to demote the New Zealander back to the sister team, with Yuki Tsunoda having gone in the other direction.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since returning to Racing Bulls, Lawson has steadily made steps in the right direction, but has started to make significant strides in recent weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lawson scored big points in Austria, before retiring on the first lap in the British Grand Prix after being hit by Haas’ Esteban Ocon.<\/p>\n
According to Cassidy, who recently spoke to his former team-mate, developments have been introduced to help Lawson and expects him to keep reminding people how good he is.<\/p>\n
When asked by RacingNews365<\/strong> if he is pleased to see Lawson’s form improve, Cassidy answered: “I am. I think it took probably some adjustment for him going to the Red Bull car and then back to Racing Bulls as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I caught up with him recently, and I think he’s quite happy with some of the changes they’ve been making on setup and development to suit him, and it’s been a little bit obvious in the last two weekends, the lift in form.\u00a0<\/p>\n “And so I really hope he can keep that going. And you know, the Formula 1 calendar, it is long and people in motorsport have short memories.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I’m sure he has the opportunity to really turn it around, and the talent to turn it around.
