Pictures via AP)<\/p>\n<p>Everyone knows you shouldn\u2019t ask your colleagues what they\u2019re getting paid. <\/p>\n<p>However, the new <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/superman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Superman<\/a>, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/07\/03\/im-new-superman-spent-last-hour-anonymity-23571504\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Corenswet<\/a>, might want to ask his agent why he earned 1,250,000 less than his co-star <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/nicholas-hoult\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nicholas Hoult<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, despite playing the title character and arguably the world\u2019s most popular superhero, it turns out that David, 31, didn\u2019t earn as much as you might expect for leading a film like Superman.<\/p>\n<p>According to a new report from <a href=\"https:\/\/puck.news\/newsletter_content\/what-im-hearing-amazons-sam-altman-movie-superman-salaries-netflixs-trainwreck-triumph-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Puck<\/a>, David and his onscreen love interest <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/07\/07\/supermans-new-lois-lane-hopes-latest-superhero-reboot-does-fans-proud-23601964\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rachel Brosnahan<\/a> only earned a relatively meagre $750,000 for their work.<\/p>\n<p>The former Skins star, however, earned a much more impressive $2,000,000 for playing the vile Lex Luthor, which makes him the highest paid member of the cast.<\/p>\n<p>That may sound unfair, but there\u2019s method in the madness.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<video id=\"3435697\" class=\"video-js\" poster=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/05\/14\/17\/98378607-0-image-a-8_1747238541267.jpg\" data-opts=\"{\" controls=\"\" official=\"\" trailer=\"\" david=\"\" corenswet=\"\" as=\"\" superman=\"\" kent=\"\" rachel=\"\" brosnahan=\"\" lois=\"\" lane=\"\" and=\"\" nicholas=\"\" hoult=\"\" lex=\"\" luthor.=\"\" preload=\"metadata\" playsinline=\"\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"vjs-no-js\">To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbrowser that<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/videojs.com\/html5-video-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supports HTML5<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tvideo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/video><\/p>\n<p>While David and Rachel are stars in their own right \u2013 especially Rachel, who led her own TV show, <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/04\/12\/marvelous-mrs-maisel-season-5-review-masterclass-in-wrapping-up-a-show-18600626\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/a> on Prime Video \u2013 both actors lacked the big screen experience. <\/p>\n<p>Nicholas, meanwhile,e who\u2019s starred in critically acclaimed flicks like Mad <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2020\/01\/17\/mad-max-fury-road-voted-greatest-movie-of-the-century-12076724\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Max: Fury Road<\/a> and <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/01\/01\/terrifying-nosferatu-will-lurk-mind-days-watching-22274380\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nosferatu <\/a>alongside bigger franchise fare like X-Men, was able to negotiate a higher wage.<\/p>\n<p>Before you start shouting about how unfair this is, though, be aware that all three actors are in line for more money if the film performs at the box office.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/SEI_258202880_3a1826-176b.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23644600\" alt=\"This image released by Warner Bros. Pictures via AP)<\/p>\n<p>That means if you think David and Rachel deserve a bit more cash in their pocket, you ned to head to the cinema and see Superman.<\/p>\n<p>And why would you go see Superman? Pictures via AP)<\/p>\n<p>The film, which is directed by James Gunn, is on track to become the second-biggest Superman movie ever. <\/p>\n<p>Recent <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/07\/box-office-superman-1236454805\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deadline<\/a> reports suggest it\u2019s earned $123 million in its opening weekend in the US.
