{"id":262979,"date":"2025-07-14T01:20:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T01:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/262979\/"},"modified":"2025-07-14T01:20:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T01:20:12","slug":"one-of-wolves-highest-earning-players-could-now-follow-tommy-doyle-to-birmingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/262979\/","title":{"rendered":"One of Wolves&#8217; highest earning players could now follow Tommy Doyle to Birmingham"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>There has been an exodus at Wolves over the last few weeks, and seemingly more players could leave Molineux.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wolves<\/a> set about offloading players almost immediately, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/news\/matheus-cunha-finally-speaks-out-after-completing-62-5m-transfer-from-wolves-to-man-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matheus Cunha joining Manchester United<\/a>, Rayan Ait-Nouri going to Manchester City, and Pablo Sarabia and Craig Dawson leaving at the end of their contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson Semedo is a free agent right now and is not expected to sign a new deal.<\/p>\n<p>We have also had a couple of loan exits, with Nasser Djiga going to Rangers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/news\/tommy-doyle-lays-out-the-main-goal-at-birmingham-city-after-loan-transfer-when-i-was-at-wolves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tommy Doyle sealing a move to Birmingham City<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And there has now been a suggestion that another player on the books at Wolves could actually follow Doyle to St Andrew\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Hwang Hee-chan could join Birmingham after tough season for Wolves<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"648\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2212770864-1024x648.jpg\" alt=\"Hwang Hee-chan playing for Wolves\" class=\"wp-image-93826\" \/>Photo by Alex Dodd \u2013 CameraSport via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/tag\/hwang-hee-chan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hwang Hee-chan<\/a> had a very forgettable 2024\/25 season.<\/p>\n<p>The South Korea international often lacked impact for Wanderers, and still couldn\u2019t find his mojo when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/tag\/vitor-pereira\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vitor Pereira<\/a> came in.<\/p>\n<p>It was a real shame, because Hwang had been one of Wolves\u2019 best players in 2023\/24 \u2013 and during that season, he signed a new contract at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/club\/stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Molineux<\/a> which saw him become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/news\/wolves-have-now-agreed-to-make-27-year-old-one-of-their-highest-paid-players\/#:~:text=Hwang%20Hee%2Dchan%20reportedly%20agrees%20new%20contract%20with%20Wolves&amp;text=He%20wrote%20on%20X%3A%20%E2%80%9CUnderstand,the%20highest%20earners%20at%20Molineux.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one of Wolves\u2019 highest earners<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But now, he could be on the move.<\/p>\n<p>According to veteran South Korean journalist Han June, writing in Football Asian, Hwang is now an ambitious target for Birmingham City.<\/p>\n<p>The Championship side are expected to pursue one of two South Korean internationals, with Jeonbuk Hyundai winger Song Min-kyu being the other.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udd35 Birmingham City are targeting \ud83c\uddf0\ud83c\uddf7 Hwang Hee-chan as part of their Asian recruitment push!<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc40 The Wolves forward is on the sale list, and Birmingham are keen to bring in one of two Korean internationals \u2014 the other being Song Min-kyu (Jeonbuk).<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9YFdr3MVxW\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/t.co\/9YFdr3MVxW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Han June Football-Asian.com (@holazuni) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/holazuni\/status\/1944273940245099002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">July 13, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>View Tweet<\/p>\n<p>Of the two, Hwang is the preferred option due to \u2018his top-level experience and physical attributes suited to English football\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Hwang is apparently open to the move, according to another well-connected South Korean journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KNTFootball\/status\/1944014736598712438\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Joel Kim<\/a>, who wrote on X: \u201cI\u2019ve personally been sitting on this for a while now. Past few weeks through multiple ITKs on both the #BCFC and #WWFC sides, I\u2019ve heard rumblings that Birmingham have pursued Hwang for a loan-buy deal. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWolves want a straight transfer. I understand Hwang is keen on joining Blues, especially due to the reasons I\u2019ve mentioned in my thread, which was inspired by these reports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2168877925-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Tommy Doyle in action for Wolves in their Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.\" class=\"wp-image-73952\" \/>Photo by Simon Stacpoole\/Offside\/Offside via Getty ImagesHwang to Birmingham would be surprising<\/p>\n<p>These are some bold claims, and it will be fascinating to see if Birmingham do actually push for Wolves\u2019 #11.<\/p>\n<p>There is definitely a possibility for Hwang to leave this summer, given the struggles he had in 2024\/25, the length of time he\u2019s already been at Wolves and the fact he\u2019s turning 30 next January.<\/p>\n<p>And certainly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/transfer-news\/14m-player-may-well-be-panicking-now-as-wolves-eye-jhon-arias-transfer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">if Wolves sign Jhon Arias that could increase Hwang\u2019s exit prospects<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But few will have seen links to Birmingham coming, given they have just got back into the Championship from League One.<\/p>\n<p>But clearly, they are looking to make a big go of it next season, and their recent loan signing of Doyle was definitely a statement.<\/p>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>Hwang Hee-chan for Wolves (2021-present)<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Appearances \u2013 119<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Goals \u2013 24<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Assists \u2013 8<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<p>Backed by wealthy American owners, Birmingham could well throw a decent offer Wolves\u2019 way for Hwang.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.molineux.news\/transfer-news\/european-giants-have-turned-down-bid-for-major-wolves-star-who-became-was-brilliant-last-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wolves, of course, knocked back a \u00a321 million bid from Marseille for Hwang<\/a> last summer, and may be hoping for similar offers this time around, although that feels unlikely.<\/p>\n<p>But given Hwang\u2019s status as a big earner at Wolves, it might be a tricky deal for them to do.
