Manchester United said an emotional goodbye to Paul McShane this summer, as the former defender leaves Old Trafford once again.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Manchester United<\/a> have gone down the route of making signings to play as overage players in the Under-23s.<\/p>\n

These players are usually coming to the end of their careers and are brought in as player-coaches to aid United\u2019s young players.<\/p>\n

Tom Huddlestone was a prime example, signing for United at the age of 35 to play for the Under-23s.<\/p>\n

Huddlestone is now coaching at Birmingham City<\/a>, having kick-started his coaching career at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Huddlestone arrived as a replacement for Paul McShane, with the Irishman really starting the phenomenon at United.<\/p>\n

McShane came up in the United ranks, having signed from St Joseph\u2019s Boys in his native Ireland.<\/p>\n

A defender in his playing days, McShane struggled to make the breakthrough under Sir Alex Ferguson and was sold to West Bromwich Albion in 2006.<\/p>\n

McShane enjoyed a fine playing career before heading back to United in 2021.<\/p>\n

McShane retired after just one season but became United\u2019s Professional Development Phase coach, playing a key role in the progress of United\u2019s future stars.<\/p>\n

Huddersfield Town have now landed McShane<\/a>, with the Irishman leaving United to join Lee Grant\u2019s coaching staff.<\/p>\n

McShane has now taken to Instagram to say goodbye to United for the second time in his career.<\/p>\n

McShane admitted his gratitude to United for developing him as a player and as a coach, thanking everybody who has helped him at United.<\/p>\n

The Irishman finished with \u2018until next time\u2019, no doubt believing that he can work his way back to United as a coach one day in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe time has come where I must fly the nest from Man Utd once again,\u201d said McShane.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be a part of this incredible club is indescribable, & to have served my apprenticeship as a player and now as a coach is something I am truly grateful for.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cA big thanks goes to all the coaches and staff members who have helped me along my journey. I\u2019m looking forward to taking the next step in my career & getting back into the senior game. Until next time,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Manchester United fans may have a soft spot for Huddersfield Town this season<\/strong><\/p>\n

United fans will surely wish McShane all the best as he embarks on the latest step in his coaching journey.<\/p>\n

McShane will be right alongside Lee Grant in the Huddersfield dugout<\/a>, joining the former United goalkeeper in West Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

The pair weren\u2019t United superstars, but both ended their careers with United, and many will be keeping tabs on their progress together at Huddersfield.<\/p>\n
