{"id":263667,"date":"2025-07-14T07:38:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T07:38:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/263667\/"},"modified":"2025-07-14T07:38:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T07:38:11","slug":"gisele-pelicot-among-hundreds-set-to-receive-frances-legion-of-honour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/263667\/","title":{"rendered":"Gis\u00e8le Pelicot among hundreds set to receive France&#8217;s Legion of Honour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  By&amp;nbsp<b>Euronews<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\n                    Published on                 13\/07\/2025 &#8211; 15:10 GMT+2\u2022Updated<br \/>\n                                     22:04<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-ad__placeholder__logo\" src=\"https:\/\/static.euronews.com\/website\/images\/logos\/logo-euronews-grey-6-180x22.svg\" width=\"180\" height=\"22\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>According to a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/jorf\/jo\/2025\/07\/13\/0162\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> decree<\/a> published on Sunday, 589 people &#8220;committed to the general interest&#8221; will be awarded the Legion of Honour, France&#8217;s highest national honour.<\/p>\n<p>Among the recipients is Gis\u00e8le Pelicot, who became an international feminist figure during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2024\/12\/19\/dominique-pelicot-found-guilty-on-all-charges-in-historic-french-rape-trial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trial for the rape and sexual abuse <\/a>she suffered from dozens of perpetrators after being drugged by her former husband in a case that gripped France and the world.<\/p>\n<p>Pelicot refused to allow the trial to be held behind closed doors, insisting that the &#8220;shame should change sides&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The decorations will be awarded to 497 knights, 68 officers, 18 commanders, four grand officers and two grand crosses. <\/p>\n<p>This last distinction, the highest, will be awarded to the historian Mona Ozouf and the former President of the Constitutional Council, Pierre Mazeaud.<\/p>\n<p>Former ministers Eric Dupond-Moretti, Stanislas Guerini, St\u00e9phane Le Foll and Olivier V\u00e9ran have also been knighted.
