{"id":264045,"date":"2025-07-14T11:03:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T11:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/264045\/"},"modified":"2025-07-14T11:03:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T11:03:10","slug":"all-blacks-greats-accuse-france-of-more-disrespect-after-second-test-act-planet-rugby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/264045\/","title":{"rendered":"All Blacks greats accuse France of more &#8216;disrespect&#8217; after second Test act : Planet Rugby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Former All Blacks Jeff Wilson and Justin Marshall have once again criticised France following the second Test in Wellington on Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>New Zealand claimed a dominant 43-17 triumph over Les Bleus at Sky Stadium to clinch the series with a game to spare.<\/p>\n<p>They therefore got their hands on the Dave Gallaher Trophy but, according to Wilson, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/france\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">French<\/a> did not stay around to see it lifted.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We would never do that\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a little disappointing that they didn\u2019t stay out on the field for the presentation of the Dave Gallaher Trophy, which I think is disappointing because we would never do that over there,\u201d he said on The Breakdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know they would be disappointed and frustrated, but for me there should be a respect between these two teams \u2013 there always has been in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wilson and his fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/new-zealand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All Blacks<\/a> great, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/tag\/justin-marshall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marshall<\/a>, have been vocal critics of Fabien Galthie\u2019s men on this tour to New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Their frustration was previously aimed at the understrength squad that headed to the southern hemisphere, with the majority of their stars left at home.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the series, Marshall accused Les Bleus of \u2018disrespecting\u2019 the international game by sending a weakened team down under, and he has now been left disappointed by this latest act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was there last year [in France] when the trophy was presented to France, when [the All Blacks] lost in November, and the All Blacks stayed there respectfully, as they always do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe French, they need to learn a lesson there that the game is only finished once the presentation has been done because it\u2019s a very important trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/news\/justin-marshall-doubles-down-on-france-disrespect-as-all-blacks-great-throws-more-spice-into-b-team-furore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Justin Marshall doubles down on France \u2018disrespect\u2019 as All Blacks great \u2018throws more spice\u2019 into B team furore<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Final Test coming up<\/p>\n<p>There is no doubt that France\u2019s decision to field an understrength outfit has lessened the importance of what could have been an incredible series, despite showing up well in Test one.<\/p>\n<p>The All Blacks scraped to a 31-27 victory in Dunedin before dominating the second match to seal the series triumph.<\/p>\n<p>Although the French are merely playing for pride this weekend, Wilson is expecting an improved performance from the visitors in the finale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a huge amount of respect in regards to the past and what these countries have gone through \u2013 it\u2019s an important part for me as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext week they\u2019ve got to show something because they didn\u2019t show what they were capable of and I would be surprised if we don\u2019t see some sort of response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rugby World Cup winner Stephen Donald is less convinced, however, and reckons that, even if they field a stronger side, it could be a long 80 minutes for the French.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were 10 changes from Dunedin to Wellington, are they going to make another 10 and go back to the team from Dunedin? They certainly showed something,\u201d Donald said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know we were better, got rid of the Test one rust but, to be fair, I think it\u2019s a worry for them. It\u2019s at the end of the season, they\u2019re going to be in Hamilton so how are they going to go?
