On the 22nd June, a tram running on the Sheffield Supertram network was involved in a collision incident with two pedestrians around 16:14. <\/p>\n
The incident occurred at Staniforth Road crossing, where the tram was travelling around 15 mph, resulting in the two people being injured. <\/p>\n
The pedestrians were moving eastwards across the crossing, which is protected by road traffic lights and signals, with signs informing people to check both ways. <\/p>\n
An investigation into the series of events which led up to the collision has now been opened. <\/p>\n
They will be looking at the actions of those involved and their influences, the audibility of warnings to crossing users and the tram driver\u2019s assessment of the situation. <\/p>\n
They will be investigating the crossing as a whole to see if necessary steps were taken to make it safe, as well as investigating any underlying factors. <\/p>\n
