Charles delivered a powerful speech<\/a>, reflecting on a thousand years of shared history and culture between the UK and France. As reported by Tyla<\/a>, he also included a sweet nod to his eldest son while noting that Windsor Castle was begun by his ancestor William, Duke of Normandy, in 1070. He noted, “So it is perhaps rather appropriate that my son, the Prince of Wales, who shares that earlier William’s name, has made Windsor his home with his family, like so many of our predecessors.” In response, a viral video from the dinner showed William being icy towards Charles, as he was the only one seated and not clapping, while the other guests stood up and responded to the King’s speech with thunderous applause.<\/p>\n
