With the Twelfth of July bank holiday<\/a> behind us, many people may be curious as to what days off remain in Northern Ireland for 2025.<\/p>\n

As the Twelfth<\/a> fell on a Saturday this year, Monday, July 14 was the substitute Bank Holiday for this year’s celebrations.<\/p>\n

NI Direct says: “Bank holidays are holidays when banks and many other businesses are closed for the day. Public Holidays are holidays which have been observed through custom and practice, such as Christmas<\/a> Day.<\/p>\n

“You don’t have a statutory right to paid leave on bank and public holidays, though many people receive the day off work. Any right to time off or extra pay for working on a bank holiday depends on the terms of your contract of employment.”<\/p>\n

July 11 is not a Bank Holiday in Northern Ireland but many employers will give staff two days off during the Twelfth of July Bank Holiday.<\/p>\n
