A dog owner from Birmingham has been banned from having animals after police found his car was covered in blood.<\/p>\n
Officers from the Rural Crime Team were on patrol in the Pool Lane area of Elton in Cheshire on Friday, February 21 this year. when they spotted a car parked in a layby with its rear bumper \u2018covered in blood\u2019.<\/p>\n
The vehicle had heavily tinted windows and the police could not see inside it.<\/p>\n
Due to concern for those that could be inside the vehicle the officers forced their way in via the boot.<\/p>\n
Read more: Bulldog beaten up in sustained attacks leaving him with fractures<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n They found a female German Shepherd sitting inside a metal cage.<\/p>\n The police officers were \u2018alarmed\u2019 to see that some bars of the cage were also stained with blood and the floor was covered in dog faeces.<\/p>\n Whilst they comforted the distressed dog, Usma Hassan of Eastfield Road in Bordesley Green<\/a>, who had been asleep in the back of the vehicle, sat up and got the dog out of the vehicle so officers could inspect her closely.<\/p>\n The Alsatian dog had a large wound an they told Hassan to come with them to take her to a nearby vet as soon as possible.<\/p>\n Get breaking news on <\/strong>BirminghamLive WhatsApp<\/strong><\/a>, click the link to join<\/strong><\/p>\n The 22-year-old then said he was a \u2018security dog handler\u2019 and \u2018had experience working with animals\u2019.<\/p>\n At the vets the dog was found to have a large immovable mass, with the consultant believing it had been \u2018present for a considerable amount of time and had been left untreated\u2019. The dog was put to sleep.<\/p>\n Hassan was arrested on suspicion of animal welfare offences and in custody claimed he had no idea where the growth had come from.<\/p>\n He said he believed it had \u2018appeared suddenly\u2019 and perhaps the vet had \u2018made a mistake\u2019 in their diagnosis.<\/p>\n Read more: Child rapist \u2018abused victim for years\u2019 keeping indecent photos of her on phone<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Hassan then claimed that the RSPCA had visited his address in Birmingham<\/a> \u2018within the last two weeks\u2019 and had said the dog was fine \u2013 which was a lie.<\/p>\n The RSPCA had attended Hassan\u2019s address but following concerns from a neighbour relating to three dogs at the property.<\/p>\n An improvement notice was served to an occupant present at the time, but the German Shepherd had not been there during their inspection, and no verdict on her personal welfare had been determined.<\/p>\n Eventually Hassan admitted that he had had the dog in his care for around two months.<\/p>\n
