The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/crime\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU)Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU)<\/a> has confirmed a 28-year-old from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/netherton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Netherton<\/a> was <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/crime\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"arrested on suspicion of misconductLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">arrested on suspicion of misconduct<\/a> in a public office on March 5 this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A trusted source at the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/walton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Walton<\/a> jail told <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"the ECHOLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the ECHO<\/a> the woman, believed to be a serving officer, was arrested after &#8220;a phone was found inside a cell&#8221;. The source said: &#8220;His cell was spun and a mobile phone was found with alleged messages between the pair.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A spokesperson for the NWROCU, a taskforce made up of the six police forces in the north west, added: &#8220;She was subsequently released under investigation pending further enquiries.&#8221; A <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/crime\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Prison ServiceLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Prison Service<\/a> spokesperson told <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"the ECHOLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the ECHO<\/a>: &#8220;It would be inappropriate to comment on a live police investigation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Misconduct in public office concerns &#8220;serious wilful abuse or neglect of the power or responsibilities of the public office held&#8221;. The POA&#8217;s national chair Mark Fairhurst told the ECHO the position of governor Rob Luxford was &#8220;untenable&#8221; after the prison&#8217;s senior management had failed to address staff concerns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The ECHO&#8217;s reporting of the ongoing issues at the prison was also referenced during a parliamentary justice committee, when Mr Luxford was asked about ongoing issues at the prison between the governor and his staff.
