The companions available currently include Ani, an anime avatar, and Rudy, a cartoony red panda.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Ani also has what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.testingcatalog.com\/grok-debuts-interactive-ai-companions-on-ios-with-anime-avatars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TestingCatalog describes<\/a> as an \u201cNSFW\u201d mode where the character wears lingerie. (And just a warning: if you search for posts about the characters on X, you\u2019ll probably come across NSFW videos.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Right now, users have to go into settings to turn on the companions, but \u201cwe will make this easier to turn on in a few days,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1944818933305106810\">Musk says<\/a>, describing this version <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1944818933305106810\">as a \u201csoft launch.\u201d<\/a> Even though I\u2019m a free user of Grok, when I opened the Grok app, I was able to talk to both avatars, so the characters may be more widely available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Users have found that another AI character called \u201cChad\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/doganuraldesign\/status\/1944749965944738023\">is in the works<\/a>.
