Jamie Redknapp has been left amazed by the form of one Newcastle United star this season, comparing him to Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Newcastle United<\/a> took another great leap towards securing a Champions League<\/a> place on Wednesday when they won their game in hand against Crystal Palace 5-0.<\/a><\/p>\n

It was man of the moment Jacob Murphy<\/a> who got the ball rolling, lashing in to the net from a tight angle.<\/p>\n

Nick Pope<\/a> saved a penalty of his own making before Newcastle doubled their lead moments later, with Marc Guehi scoring for the Magpies<\/a> for a second time this season. <\/p>\n

Harvey Barnes<\/a> kept his good form going with a confident finish and then Murphy was at the heart of matters again as his sensational cross was headed in by Fabian Schar.<\/a><\/p>\n

Alexander Isak finally got in on the act<\/a> after missing loads of chances to make it five, after which Newcastle took it easy.<\/p>\n

Murphy was excellent throughout and Jamie Redknapp admits he\u2019s been left floored by his form this season.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Sky Sports punditry duty before the match, Redknapp admitted he didn\u2019t think it was even \u2018possible\u2019 for Murphy to register the goal contributions he is managing.<\/p>\n

When asked if his improvement showed the value of good coaching, Redknapp replied: \u201cCoaching, confidence, feeling loved. I think that\u2019s what we need sometimes. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen your boss turns around and says you\u2019re my guy, you can really do it, you can make things happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis goal involvements when you look at that, look at those numbers with the players that he\u2019s associated with there \u2013 Salah, Isak, Jacob Murphy \u2013 if you\u2019d have said that a few years ago, you\u2019d have gone: \u2018you are talking complete nonsense, there\u2019s no way that\u2019s possible.\u2019 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut it just shows you what you can do if you can dedicate yourself, work hard, you\u2019re playing with good players every single game. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s testament to Eddie, to Jason Tindall and all the staff there because they\u2019ve done an incredible job with him, because I personally didn\u2019t see it.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it just shows you what you can do if you get a little bit of belief.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking at half-time about Murphy\u2019s exploits in the game, Redknapp even muttered in disbelief that: \u201c\u2018He\u2019s prime [Kevin] De Bruyne, he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Murphy\u2019s fantastic season just isn\u2019t ending and his form will pose interesting questions for the club when it comes to the summer transfer market.<\/p>\n

All Murphy can do is keep on being decisive in the final third and that\u2019s now eight Premier League<\/a> goals for him this season. Along with 11 assists, that\u2019s 19 goal contributions in total.<\/p>\n

That takes him into the top 10 in the standings above Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle target Matheus Cunha<\/a>.
