The Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations Council (EVOC) has published a new strategic plan to cover activity in the next five years. <\/p>\n

The organisation sets out its vision to contribute to Edinburgh becoming equitable, sustainable and resilient all supported by a thriving third sector.<\/p>\n

EVOC was established in the 19th century to improve lives and communities. The new plan has the same ethos but the body recognises the need to adapt to people\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n

The ways in which EVOC helps the third sector are diverse, but they help bodies respond to issues which affect them, and offer training to charities to help them become more effective.<\/p>\n

Bruce Crawford, EVOC\u2019s CEO, said: \u201cI\u2019ve been in post for 6 months now, and since day one, we\u2019ve been working towards the publication of this new strategic plan. To help us achieve our vision, we\u2019re focused on supporting organisations to make local community-driven change. We want to use our networks and forums, which sit at the heart of the dynamic between the third sector, public sector and private sector, to bring the voices of the sector together to develop policies that meet the needs of the communities we all serve.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past few months, I\u2019ve had the opportunity to meet with people from across the sector to help inform what\u2019s gone into our strategic plan. In 2025, there have been a series of challenges that the sector has faced, including public sector funding cuts and increased running costs. We\u2019re looking to create some stability by going back to basics \u2013 EVOC doing what is right for the sector. So, we\u2019ll be covering a broad range of areas that come under our three priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n
