Screenwriter Jamie Flanagan<\/strong> (\u201cMidnight Mass,\u201d \u201cThe Fall of the House of Usher\u201d) \u2014 sibling to Mike Flanagan<\/strong> \u2014\u00a0has sold their first two novels to Saga Press, Simon & Schuster\u2019s genre imprint, Deadline<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Their first book, tentatively titled Deserters, follows two priests in post-World War II Italy as they traverse the countryside in search of lost souls, only to find their mission descend into horror.<\/p>\n

The second as-yet-untitled book is about a young woman uncontrollably flitting through time. It\u2019s based on Flanagan\u2019s short story Moira, published in last year\u2019s horror anthology Shadows in the Stacks.<\/p>\n

The deal was handled by Joe Monti, Vice President and Editorial Director at Saga Press via Lane Heymont at the Tobias Literary Agency.<\/p>\n

\u201cI fell in love with Flanagan\u2019s prose, and perhaps no surprise, the immediate connection I felt with their characters\u201d, said Monti. \u201cI\u2019m excited to share what they\u2019re crafting with readers and having them join the stable of award-winning writers like Stephen Graham Jones and Tananarive Due on my list.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flanagan is currently working on Mike Flanagan\u2019s series adaptation of Stephen King\u2019<\/strong>s \u201cCarrie<\/a><\/strong>\u201d for Amazon MGM Studios.<\/p>\n
