Sheffield United, West Brom, and Hull City are all reportedly tracking the free agent after his contract expired earlier in July. <\/strong><\/p>\n

So far in the summer transfer window<\/a>, the free agent market has proven a fruitful avenue for Championship<\/a> teams to explore.<\/p>\n

As second tier outfits look to add quality reinforcements ahead of what could be the best Championship season yet<\/a>, there is a litany of top talent in the Premier League free agents<\/a> list, waiting to be snapped up this summer.<\/p>\n

Now, second tier trio Sheffield United<\/a>, West Brom<\/a>, and Hull City<\/a> are said to be fighting for the signature of a former top flight defender.<\/p>\n

The three aforementioned clubs face stern competition from the Scottish Premier League giants Celtic in the deal, but the Baggies must make sure they win the transfer race. <\/p>\n

Former Leicester City<\/a> star Jeffrey Schlupp is on the move after his Crystal Palace contract expired at the start of July, with the aforementioned Championship trio keen on the 32-year-old.<\/p>\n

Schlupp spent the second half of the 2024\/25 campaign on loan at Celtic, where he lodged two goal contributions in 18 appearances for the SPL giants, to help Brendan Rodgers\u2019 side win the league title.<\/p>\n

According to Africa Foot<\/a>, Celtic are looking to sign Schlupp permanently after his impressive loan stint, with the Blades, West Brom, and Hull all also in the running.<\/p>\n

Of those three second tier suitors, West Brom must swoop to secure Schlupp\u2019s services, after Baggies boss Ryan Mason<\/a> missed out on transfer target James Penrice earlier this month.<\/p>\n

After West Brom wanted to sign Penrice<\/a>, EFL Analysis<\/strong> revealed earlier in July that Penrice snubbed West Brom for AEK Athens<\/a>, after the Scottish left-back accepted a \u2018bumper\u2019 three-year deal with the Greek giants.<\/p>\n

For a multitude of reasons, the Hawthorns hierarchy must try and beat Celtic, Sheffield United, and Hull to become Schlupp\u2019s next club.<\/p>\n

In Mason\u2019s first months in charge, the Baggies have made an exceptional start to their summer transfer window<\/a> business.<\/p>\n

West Brom signed Aune Heggeb\u00f8<\/a>, with the promising Norwegian forward arriving at the Hawthorns in a \u00a34.7m deal.<\/p>\n

He became the Baggies\u2019 second signing of the summer, after West Brom signed Nat Phillips<\/a> from Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Phillips revealed why he chose West Brom<\/a> over a return to former loan outfit Derby County<\/a>, owing to the club\u2019s Premier League ambitions.<\/p>\n

West Brom are contenders for a top-six finish this season in Mason\u2019s debut campaign, and the acquisition of Schlupp would further cement their aspirations for a play-off place.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Via the BBC<\/a>, Palace boss Oliver Glasner dubbed Schlupp as \u201cfantastic\u201d after his stunning strike against Fulham secured a point for the Eagles.<\/p>\n

Throughout his career, Schlupp has proven to be a comfortable operator at Premier League level, with the ability to play in a handful of positions, namely at left-back and left-midfield.<\/p>\n
