we will update this article once more details have been released. Find out more on the dedicated pages on MYGOV.SCOT <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/pension-age-winter-heating-payment\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"here.Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pension Age Winter Heating Payment &#8211; between\u00a3100 &#8211; \u00a3305.10<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Every person over State Pension age living in Scotland will automatically receive a one-off heating payment of at least \u00a3100 next winter &#8211; even if they are not in receipt of a means-tested benefit such as Pension Credit.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">Those aged between 66 and 79 in receipt of Pension Credit will be paid \u00a3203.40<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">Those aged 80 and over in receipt of Pension Credit will be paid \u00a3305.10<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">To be eligible for the 2025 payment, you must have been born before a specific date in September 1959 &#8211; this date has still to be confirmed and should only be used as a guide for information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">During the qualifying week &#8211; expected to be September 21-27 &#8211; you must also:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">live in Scotland, or an eligible country abroad<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">get at least one other, specific benefit on at least one day of the qualifying week<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Those benefits are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">Pension Credit<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">Universal Credit<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">income-based Jobseeker\u2019s Allowance (JSA)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">Income Support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Payment rates<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">Those aged between 66 and 79 in receipt of Pension Credit will be paid \u00a3203.40<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 ENBBt\">Those aged 80 and over in receipt of Pension Credit will be paid \u00a3305.10<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Winter Fuel Payments &#8211; between \u00a3200 and \u00a3300 (not Scotland)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">People over State Pension age in receipt of an income-related benefit such as Pension Credit during the qualifying week of September (usually the final full week) will receive the payment automatically &#8211; the money is tax-free and will not affect other benefits. Letters will be sent to eligible pensioner households in October or November telling them how much Winter Fuel Payment they will receive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The amount you receive depends on your age and living arrangements, full details on how winter 2024\/25 payments were determined can be found on GOV.UK <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/winter-fuel-payment\/how-much-youll-get\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"here.Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Warm Home Discount &#8211; \u00a3150 paid to energy provider<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Warm Home Discount Scheme for winter 2025 to 2026 usually opens in October and will give people on certain benefits \u00a3150 off their electricity bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The money is paid directly by the DWP to energy suppliers between October and March. Eligible households may also be able to get the discount off their gas bill instead &#8211; if their supplier provides them with both gas and electricity, just contact them once the scheme opens to find out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">If you\u2019re a credit customer the \u00a3150 will be added to your electricity account and if you\u2019re on Pay As You Go or Prepayment, you\u2019ll be sent a voucher that you can use to top-up your meter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Eligibility rules are changing this year to provide the support to more households &#8211; you can read about this <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/warm-home-discount-scheme-expansion-34742496\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"hereLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">We will update this article with details for this winter as soon as they are published.
