Coronation Street spoilers<\/a> follow from Wednesday’s episode (16 July)<\/a>, which is available to watch now on ITVX<\/a> but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coronation Street has hinted that Gary Windass’s dark side could return after his ordeal with Lou Michaelis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gary makes an ominous comment to his wife Maria Connor in tonight’s episode, reflecting on the calmer approach he’s taken to life over the past few years.<\/p>\n

Wednesday’s visit to the cobbles explores the ongoing fallout from Lou putting Gary in a coma.<\/p>\n

With loose ends still to tie up, Gary admits to Maria that Lou tried to kiss him shortly before the attack incident.<\/p>\n

Maria is horrified to learn that Lou tried to blackmail Gary by threatening to make false allegations of an affair.<\/p>\n

As far as Maria’s concerned, it doesn’t say much for their marriage that Gary kept it a secret, as well as storming out to stay with his mum rather than properly dealing with the situation.<\/p>\n

Later, during a tense family dinner back at home, Gary’s teenage stepson Liam tries to lighten the mood with some banter. Much to Maria’s disapproval, Liam teases Gary for being attacked by a woman.<\/p>\n

Maria calls out Liam for being sexist, but Gary appears to take the comment in good humour.<\/p>\n

Once they’re alone, though, Gary hints that he’s taken the remark \u2013 and the wider Lou situation \u2013 to heart and will be making changes from now on…<\/p>\n

He says: “There’s nothing I could do. She had a weapon, she came at me from behind. I don’t know, I just find this hard, you know?<\/p>\n

“I know it’s not my fault and I know it’s probably just pride talking but it’s got me thinking a bit. These last few years, how I’ve let people walk all over me a bit?”<\/p>\n

Maria dismisses Gary’s comments and he swiftly backtracks, but it’s clear that the issue is still playing on his mind…<\/p>\n

Corrie fans know that Gary’s time on the show has been a rollercoaster, as he was introduced as a bad lad, redeemed himself, briefly became the show’s new supervillain and then turned nicer again.<\/p>\n

With Gary now seeming to regret that last decision, it’s anyone’s guess where his character could be heading next\u2026<\/p>\n

Coronation Street<\/strong> airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on <\/strong>ITVX<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
