Manchester United <\/a>could be dealt a significant blow in their pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils have been locked in negotiations with their Premier League<\/a> counterparts for several weeks over a deal for the Cameroon international. According to the latest update from MEN’s Samuel Luckhurst<\/a>, United are still working on a deal and hope Mbeumo can be involved in their pre-season tour of the United States.<\/p>\n

So far, Brentford have rejected two offers and remain firm on their \u00a365m asking price for the 26-year-old. However, as the saga drags on, interest is mounting in Mbeumo’s Brentford teammate, Yoane Wissa.<\/p>\n

Tottenham have already been linked with the forward following Thomas Frank’s move to the north London club. Meanwhile, although Liverpool<\/a> are believed to be pursuing a move for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, they are also exploring several high-profile alternatives in case the Magpies stand firm on their stance that the Swede is not for sale.<\/p>\n

According to the Daily Mail<\/a>, Wissa is one of the names under consideration at Anfield. The 28-year-old scored 20 goals and provided five assists for Brentford in all competitions last season and a move to Anfield would certainly come as something of a twist following news of their interest in Isak.<\/p>\n

Sky Sports <\/a>also reports that Wissa is an option for Newcastle, while Spurs and Nottingham Forest are keen too, with the Congo international valued at more than \u00a340m this summer. Crucially for United, the report adds that Brentford are unlikely to sanction the sale of both Mbeumo and Wissa in the same window.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been claimed that once a deal is agreed for either Mbeumo or Wissa, the other will not be allowed to leave – meaning United risk being beaten to the punch by a rival if negotiations rumble on any further.<\/p>\n

This weekend, Ruben Amorim<\/a>\u2019s side face Leeds United in a friendly in Sweden before heading to the United States for their pre-season tour. United will be based in Chicago for most of their 12-day stay, with games against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton to follow.<\/p>\n
