The problem is Sheffield Wednesday players are not happy with Rohl, and neither are the fans.

While Wednesday have seemingly avoided one disaster this week, with Dejphon Chansiri finally paying players and staff after a cash injection from the Djeidi Gassama sale, there may now be more trouble brewing internally at the club.

Photo by Ed Sykes/Getty ImagesSheffield Wednesday are questioning Danny Rohl’s position once more

Pictures emerged on Monday of Rohl leading training at the Middlewood Road facilities, leaving Owls fans in two minds as to whether it felt right that the German was back in his role.

The unrest among the players was also cause for concern, with some even telling the board they didn’t want to work with Rohl anymore. However, our sources tell us that the Sheffield Wednesday chiefs don’t intend to sack Rohl and have told players to move on and put it all behind them.

Now, a report from The Star suggests there may still be some doubts among the hierarchy as to whether Rohl should be allowed to continue.

Despite clear-the-air talks and Rohl taking training for the last three days, there is now thought to be uncertainty once more and that the Owls bosses are considering relieving Rohl of his duties before the start of the season.

The report claims no “definitive decision” has been made, despite Wednesday’s first Championship fixture — an away day at Leicester City — being just three weeks away.

Photo by VisionhausThe Owls have to stick with Danny Rohl now, it’s too late

If Sheffield Wednesday wanted to part ways with Rohl, they should have done it last week at the very latest. To have allowed him to come back now, only to dismiss him anyway, would be a very foolish and disruptive decision indeed.

That said, after what has happened this summer, it would not be particularly surprising.

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying Danny Rohl is the best Sheffield Wednesday manager we’ve seen at Hillsborough for a long time, and there are unlikely to be many better candidates out there willing to take on this poisoned chalice of a role right now.

The new season is looming and will be here before we know it. While the uncertainty over the ownership remains, what Wednesday really need right now is some stability and harmony among the squad and playing staff, and that means keeping Rohl where he is.

It feels like a long time since there was just one normal day at Sheffield Wednesday, and today…

[8817
748,76431,393,4884,1620,21069,16,15
0":"post-267232","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sheffield","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-danny-rohl","10":"tag-england","11":"tag-great-britain","12":"tag-sheffield","13":"tag-sheffield-wednesday","14":"tag-uk","15":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
