In the past week he has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/europe\/2025\/07\/14\/fed-up-with-putin-trump-offers-ukraine-arms-and-tariffs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signalled renewed enthusiasm<\/a> for supporting Ukraine. His spectacular pivot involves ambiguity, theatre and cynicism. Yet it creates a pathway for Ukraine and its supporters to stabilise a weakening position.
