The jockey will be a key player in FanDuel TV’s blanket coverage of opening weekend of one of the country’s premier summer race meets.

Over the course of his career, Talamo won 364 races at Del Mar and enjoyed a banner season in 2012, where he won 12 stakes races, which tied him for third all-time for a single summer season. He also won three consecutive editions of the Del Mar Mile (GII) from 2011-2013.

“Del Mar has always been a special place for me as a rider and now working for FanDuel,” said Talamo. “It’s our marquee summer race meet that everyone looks forward to, and the vibe there is truly something I wish every horse racing fan could get to experience! Even though I won’t be riding there this meet, I’m beyond excited to be there with FanDuel and get to see all the owners, trainers, jockeys, and fans that I’ve been around for most of my 18-year career.”

There will be another noteworthy change at Del Mar when the season begins on Friday, as Larry Collmus, another member of the FanDuel TV broadcast team, will be assuming the announcing duties at Del Mar. Collmus, who also serves as the voice of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Breeders’ Cup on NBC, will be taking over the microphone for Trevor Denman, who retired earlier this year. There will be a special feature reflecting on the career of Trevor Denman and looking ahead to the new voice of Del Mar.

FanDuel TV will also have a full roster of experts on-site at Del Mar for opening weekend, including Todd Schrupp, Scott Hazelton, Christina Blacker, Matt Bernier, and Simon Bray with exclusive interviews, insights, and handicapping selections.

Fans can tune into the FanDuel Racing YouTube Channel for unique Del Mar-focused features alongside wagering content, interviews, and more behind-the-scenes coverage.

Del Mar has a 10-race Saturday card on deck for opening day, featuring large fields and representing some of the top barns in the country. The $100,000 Oceanside Stakes headlines the card with a field of ten sophomores scheduled to go 1-mile on the turf. The field includes Day and Age, undefeated on the turf for trainer Richard Mandella. Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith has the mount on the 3-year-old homebred son of Omaha Beach for Spendthrift Farm.

“We are looking forward to another summer where the surf meets the turf,” said FanDuel TV’s general manager of racing Andrew Moore. “This is one of the most prestigious and anticipated meets of the year and we are looking forward to bringing fans and horseplayers close to the action with full coverage every day.”

FanDuel Racing will also be offering a “No Sweat Bet” promotion on select races throughout the meet, including the jewel of the season, the Grade 1 Pacific Classic. There will be daily Money Back Special promotions on select races.

The coverage of Del Mar’s meet will run through Labor Day and will include the G1 Pacific Classic on Aug. 30. The $1 million Pacific Classic, a Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Challenge race, is one of six Breeders’ Cup qualifying races to be held at Del Mar alongside the Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) on July 28, the Clement L. Hirsch Stakes (G1) on Aug. 2, the Pat O’Brien Handicap (G2) on Aug. 23, the Del Mar Handicap (G2) on Aug. 30 and the Green Flash Handicap (G3) on Aug. 30.

For the second consecutive year, Del Mar will also be home to the 42nd edition of the Breeders’ Cup on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, which will showcase the top horses from across the globe competing across 14 events with $31 million in purses and awards.

This story was originally reported by Paulick Report on Jul 16, 2025, where it first appeared.

FanDuel TV To Have On-Site Coverage For Entire Del Mar Meet originally appeared on Paulick Report.
